listen 2 your dad.. sounds like he paid for it.. yes yo cn drive with the rear window open if your shocks are working properly.

i wouldn't recommend driving w/ the rear glass open. you'll wear out the shocks on the window and a few hard bounces could break it. if you want you can simply remove the rear window. it should just be a matter of removing a few bolts and discoing the wires.

 

IMO - forget about what might happen to the glass and just listen to your dad. If I told my son not to do something w/ my car, and he went and did it anyways... it may be the last time he drives it. Besides, if you have luck like mine, you'll open it up and it'll end up breaking for some other stupid reason like you parked w/ it open and an SUV backed into you and shattered the glass, etc... try explaining that one to dad.

 

i would run the "removing the glass" idea past dad first.

 

Listen to your Dad and definetly run removing the rear window by him first.

 

exhaust fumes will enter the rear opening when jeep is stopped. be careful that you have driver and passenger windows open for ventilation!

do it all the time and havent had an issue. Now I wouldnt do it trail riding, but cruising around town I havent had a problem.

 

Next time you remove the hard top sell it it's not needed.

 

I agree with the others warning against leaving the rear window open as that creates a negative pressure behind the Jeep which can draw carbon monoxide right into the interior. Carbon monoxide is odorless & undetectable by the human nose.

Not only that but sheesh man, listen to your dad... he's been around the block a few more times than you have.
