Thx, the holster goes on the gear shifter side right? Got a pic of it installed?
Yes, i put it on the shifter side but no installed pics. Also handy to clip a flashlight, screwdriver, etc to the molle slots. Now that i think about it, Just going to reinstall it :) so should have pics later

What do you have there in the way of retention in case of automobile accident?

The holster has a retention lock which works great and it never moves or comes loose. I have the same holster mounted to a leg setup and hike/scout and its great security.
The only weak part in this vs. the Condition Zero mount is the single point of attachment. The CZ has 2. I also like the security of the holster being mounted with 3 screws vs. Velcro or some type of clip. It's not going anywhere.

Nice, exactly what I’m looking for. Looks like it will do the job nicely. Found the version you have for $70 bucks on Amazon. This version has more mounting options then the previous version.

Getting a FIRM GRIP is the most important part of drawing. This rig provides a happy medium I think towards accomplishing that goal.

I usually carry on my person but if I'm making a long drive, I wanted an option to remove it but keep it close.
I ended up slipping a gun magnet under the upholstery. It's unnoticeable. It stays in place and is strong. I have actually racked the slide against it, to see how strong it is.

I found it to be a great option for me. Some might not like it since the trigger isn't covered, and it could go flying around the cabin in a wreck, but it works for me. It doesn't scream, there is a gun in here and it is limited in use.

I bet you could modify a holster to attach if you wanted.

I'm a longtime gun owner, but carrying a gun in your vehicle seems like a way to escalate, rather than defuse dangerous situations. The idea of so many publicly-armed people scares the crap out of me - especially in the crazy environment that we now live in. If you must carry, please be cool.

Have any of you with the holster mounts ever needed to grab your gun that quickly while driving?
I’m 63 and was a cop on the border of LA for 33 years. I’ve been around handguns a fair bit and have three on duty shootings under my belt. Been retired going on 10 years now. I’ve never been so paranoid that i needed a gun off duty so quickly that i needed it mounted in my Jeep.
It’s either on me or in the glove box positioned so i can get to it quickly enough.
I’m always aware of my surroundings and who might be approaching me while I’m in the Jeep. Unless some Ninja swoops out of the sky I’m not too worried about getting surprised.
Other than the Tackleberrys from the Police Academy movies, I’ve never known a cop to mount a handgun on his console.
Flame away but I think some of you are delusional and watch too many survivalist shows or read too many doomsday articles.

I agree completely, except my holster of choice is a drop leg holster. Its hard to draw from a seated position. So I want something to securely mount the gun in the jeep. Then I can transfer it to my holster when I get out.
A good quality inside the waist band holster. Love my crossbreed holster. Never leave home without it. Started concealed carrying in 1969 work related. Still do to this day.

Because a guy wants a decent way to hold his piece while driving he is paranoid and delusional? How a person carries his weapon is as personal as how they mod their Jeep! Not to the satisfaction of someone else but how they like and feel comfortable doing so...I personally don't like any of my carry handguns sliding around in the glove box....I'm a big boy and wearing it in the car is uncomfortable as hell.... personally I wouldn't mount mine in plain view but a solid mount that keeps it safe and is easy to get to would be nice....

If a law abiding citizen with a gun makes some of you nervous...how do you leave your house with all the criminals running around with guns? As much as the news likes to portray America as a gun happy society the American public as a whole sure flips out at the sight of one!

I know that jeepers like jeeps cuz they fill the inner-boy scout in all of us that needs to feel "prepared" for anything life throws at us.

And that philosophy naturally winds its way into gun ownership...the need to feel prepared for whatever life throws at you.

And the next step on that path of reasoning is carrying...concealed or otherwise...after all if it aint with you...its kinda useless and thus defeats the whole "be prepared" mind-set.

However.... Being prepared is more involved than simply having everything with you. It requires a realistic evaluation of need....utility....burden....safety...you know, basic cost/benefit analysis.

I've taught guns and shoot'n for the better part of 25 years to all sectors ranging from feds to toothless rednecks and everywhere in-between.

Ive posted countless "pontifications" on the topic of weapons in vehicles.

Ive cited research studies, statistics, fire-fight analysis, all sorts of empirical data.....but ulitimately the discussion always winds-down to "cuz I wanna". In which case all other considerations are usually pretty pointless.

To answer the OP...think about the leading edge if the drivers seat...slightly above the lever used to moved the seat back and forth but below the seating surface. Depending on the size of the hog-leg your planning to take for a drive...between your knees might be an option.

But now that I've addressed the question...I will repeat my personal and professional opinion and advice: There are three places for a firearm - in your hand, on your side, or secured at home.

The primary source for stolen firearms...people leaving them unsecured in places where (ironically) they think they need to have one right-handy just in case the boogy man comes to get em. But the boogy man VERY VERY rarely waits for you to be around so he can chat whilest he is boogying. He's bashful. He likes to visit when you're away...kinda like an anti-santa.

Please Don't leave him cookies and milk.
I agree 100 percent on in your hand , on your side or at home in the gun safe. Or just place a sign on your Jeep saying firearm inside please help your self.

Danny, try being LEO in alaska, everyone has a gun up here!
Got that right! And they carry big bore hand cannons. Lived and worked in Alaska 18 years. Needed CCW for work. Even though it is a any person carry state. I needed one to carry in federal courts.

I've always wanted one of those chest Alaskan Bush holsters! Just can't bring myself to actually wear it in public! I finally ran across some of the bear wheel guns in a store....I seriously can't believe how big they are!

They are the only way to go when wearing chest waders fishing.(chumming for bears) I have learned how to CC those big wheel guns while driving. Cross draw from IWB holster.
