How to measure JK lift height ?

I have the Teraflex 2.5-inch lift kit that comes with springs and shocks. It's the kit that's about $850 I believe on quadratec. It's installed on a 2013 JK Sport two door, and was already installed when I bought the Jeep.

I just measured today, and it appears to have given me a 3.5" actual lift in the front. (Shocks measured right at 22" and the coil was right at 13")

It looks like about a 2" lift in the rear, as it's right at 7" from bumpstop to frame.

Looks like I may need a spacer in the rear. See the attached pictures and give your opinion if it's level or sagging a bit in the rear.

If it is, it could be because of the heavy spare tire and bumper. And my rear shocks are absolutely shit, which may allow it to say a bit. I'm getting those replaced probably next week View attachment 4429231 View attachment 4429232
Yea man I think it looks fine to/really good actually. I like to have jeep 1.0 full inch higher in front from ground to fenders and think that that 1.0 makes it level to my eyes and doesn’t look saggy at all.

how much higher is your front then back?

So I installed a 2-1/2” rough Country lift on my 2014 JK 2 door. And it measured 3-1/2” upfront and just over 2 in the back. I have heavy bumpers, winches etc. my shocks are Bilstein 5100 1” to 3-1/2” lift shocks luckily. Just a bit surprised to see my Jeep go from -2” upfront to + 3-1/2” and -1” to +2” in the back. I wish manufacturers (OEM and aftermarket) would be a little mote open about spring rates and measurements. Would be helpful in sorting this out a little easier.
Funny you post this.

I just got the mopars installed wks ago and got the new tires on new wheels. Had to not use the new wheels they didn’t look good with my jeep and there was the lugnut thing.

after getting the new tires on the old salta wheels back in the show.

now I got to figure out how to fine tune it so it level and I ok with overall height. I donot care what net height I actually get just that it looks good.

at first it seems too high for 33.0 tires and even though I knew that I planned on waiting to let eyes adjust and see next summer.

thinking about options I prob go with stock mopar/rubicon mopar springs and a 2.5 and .5 spacers on left and a 2.5 and 1.0 spacers on right for gas tank lean. Keep back same with 2 inch mopar springs see how that looks for netting 3.0 front left for looks. Then I can go less spacers in back then I have now or same stock mopar springs and only spacers.

I would rather have springs then just spacers but I want it to look right/good.

if I do fronts only first and it looks good then I keep back 2 inch springs and front does have swaybar links.

if I really need bigger articulation I can throw on 35 tires and prob be ok otherwise I should be able to swing it on most trails.

I netted 3.75 front and 1.75 back from the 2 inch mopars.

So I added 1.0 inch spacers to back to try to get a 3.75 2.75 net height.

what I a, seeing with the mopar springs compared to the metalcloak springs is mopar does not hold weight as good and on slopes when parked it looks like jeep is off. With metalcloak it holds it own weight and stays level looking unless your in San Fran.

Love the ride of mopars and falcons shocks better then falcon metalcloak combo.

when I get reservoirs going to get custom valved for jeep and I guess mopar springs keep.

whatever springs are best for on road ride.

So I installed a 2-1/2” rough Country lift on my 2014 JK 2 door. And it measured 3-1/2” upfront and just over 2 in the back. What do you mean -2 front and -1 back?

I give it some time but think a net of 3.0 front and 2.0 back would look better for the 33.0 tires.

I do love the smaller tires for daily driving with 33.0 they feel so small compared to 34.1 tires I had for four yrs.

I am herbying around corners and engine is roaring.

Still have to see what psi is good for 33.0 11.5 tires. Garage had it at 36 so they read the sticker on door/not right psi that’s for 32.0 11.5 stocks which are really 31.5 11.5 tires being good wrench heights.

now flashcall setting and measure tire height I netted from these 33.0 Baja legends.

It was sagged down that much from winches and bumpers i guess
Yea.

I donot have any weight on front less then stock only have a 80s cj bumper on so it’s high. I prob go to stock springs and use spacers in fron only way to get height I think I want. Doesn’t help articulation though so it’s tuff call.

Not knowing the lift kit spec (bought it used already lifted) I measured based on the diagram (front only). I get 23 5/8. So that tells me either it is a 4 1/2, or 5" kit sagging a bit w/bumper, winch,etc... Has 35" tires (actual 34 1/2). The original stock ones were 32". All totaled for about 6" of lift?

However I have a hard time telling it apart from pictures of others with a 2 1/2 lift... Not complaining, I think it looks just right.

If I add from stock tires I must have been 32.0 to 34.1 tires so +1.0 inch and I netted from stock at perches in front 4.25 so I had a 5.25 front and with 34.1 tires it was/is ideal like your saying. I still called it a 4.25 net lift and tires are tires. Same thing though.

pit did look just right/ideal with that 4.25 front 3.0 back and with 34.1/11.5 tires for looks. Only reason why I wanted to try 33.0 tires was for better performance and they are 500% better so I am going to have to get 4 door stock springs so I can net something like 3 front 2 back and I think that will look ideal with 33.0 tires.

if I had 5.10 gears and the 34.1 tires then drove like these 33.0 tires do then I might keep what I had before.

with 33.0 tires 4.25 and +.5 more in tires is too much wheel well space.

that’s one of the few things I like about the jl is you can do whatever springs spacers for height on rubicon and then get Sahara fenders and it won’t look silly in the wheel wells and still have the nice articulation and enough height from ground so it looks right/good. With jk fenders are where they are.

yours specs are similar to what I had and it is a good height for those size tires. 34.1 or 34.5
