I have a Howell Fuel Injection on my 1987 I6 Wrangler and live in California.
This year (but not in previous years), the smog technician would not even start the test because he said the Check Engine light is supposed to come on when you move the key to the "On" position (prior to starting the engine).
I don't think this system has ever done that but also don't know if it should. I know the light works as it makes a quick flash right after turning off the engine.
I have been looking for documentation on this for the last week and haven't found a definitive answer.
Does anyone know if it is supposed to turn on like this?
If it is supposed to, any idea why mine doesn't turn on?
If it isn't, can anyone help me find the documentation to support it?
