Installed a Falcon 2.1 Steering stabilizer, wow!

The OME that cane with my AEV 2.5 lift seemed to be getting bad. Early morning on cold tires, I would get some shimmy/vibration in the steering wheel. Was not as smooth as new.

Did the install in about just over a hour. Not only is the shimmy gone, its steers much more easier and zero feedback on bumps.

Now my steering wheel is slightly to the right when driving. Any ideas?

Do you mean that the steering is pushing to the right? Or that when going straight, the steering wheel is slightly out of center? If it's the first, some steering stabilizers are known to cause pushing issues. Not sure if this is one of those, but just mentioning it. If it's the second, park on a flat area with your tires pointing straight, lossen the turnbuckle on your drag link and rotate it slightly. This is easier with someone sitting in the driver's seat to let you know when the steering wheel is straight.

Here's a quick write up.

The Falcon 2.1 is a push through design, so it does not push to one side like some gas charged stabilizers.

However, It is important to realize that a steering stabilizer does NOT and WILL NOT FIX any steering problem. It will only dampen the symptoms.

Whatever was causing your shimmy or vibration before, is still there, it is only being hidden by the stabilizer. It is important that steps be taken to diagnose and fix the actual source of any steering problem that you might be experiencing as opposed to masking or hiding it with a steering stabilizer.

Yes, correct. The suspension was checked out when I had the tires rebalanced. It was better, newer tires/wheels made it eve better.

The vibrations only really happened when its cold (under 65) and on my morning commute route, when the road is not bad but not smooth.
Not same thing in the morning on another road, but not as bad and either road, goes away once the tires were up to temp. This is not what people perceive as “death wobble” (most have no idea what true DW is.) but small vibrations, movement in the wheel. Again not the best roads. Turning seemed slightly rougher before as well. Any little imperfection, slight potholes or speed bumps gave more feedback.
At speeds up to 85 mph on the highway, it drove perfect and with one finger steering.

Now is smooth and I don’t even get feedback back from speed bumps.
Its smoother and easier to steer now.

But yeah, a new SS is not a cure or fix for DW or suspension related issues.

143 miles since I installed this.
The steering in my JKU has never been this good.
45 mph on neighborhood roads that are just worn, not perfect, little bumps and what nots, my Jeep does now feel or react to anything. Just dead straight and almost a dead feel in the feel. Zero feedback.
85 mph on the highway were it was newer and smooth, I can let go of the wheel and it will stay true and straight. New tired and alignment done last year or so.

Only this I can say, its slightly loose and dead. Need to steer a bit more but less moving of the wheels. If you get what I mean.

But very happy with it.

Do you know what your castor angle is after you had everything checked out? Reason for asking is that it sounds like your castor angle could be a little high which could cause a “slower” response to steering action, similar to what you are describing here. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing unless your pinion angle is too low (the adverse effect of having castor too high).

Well I know SS are another hot topic here.
My OME SS that was on my jeep was just over 3 yrs old and was shot. Its been in mud, water, etc. boot was all jammed up, compressed etc.
Before switching them out, I took my Jeep for a test drive. It rode fine. Perfect and smooth. Only difference, when I hit bumps and imperfections, it gave feedback in the steering wheel. But other wise its now driving great and same as it did when it was brand new.
Morning cold steering wheel shakes are gone as well.

Its going to get cold here on mon/tues night. I will remove and try to see if they steering wheel shakes without the SS.
My local 4x4 shop inspected everything when I had my old wheels balanced and everything is good.
Wether or not anyone agrees or wants to argue, my jeep, my hands and me driving, this FALCON SS is better.
My OME new rode great on the highway when new. Recently I had some feedback. Feedback is gone and I can let go of wheel at 85mph and it tracks perfectly and not one minor road imperfection moves it off line.
