No more gap between the front fenders and front bumper....Looks good on a Sport, not sure about the look on a Sahara with painted fenders???

Looks like the Canadian/European bumper. These angles make it look best, but in the flesh, I'm not too fond of it. In full profile, it looks weird.

However, from a purely functional point, I bet it keeps splash off the hood & windshield.

Not sure if it's being used for '12 US models.

I could see it on the Euro models being that their front plate/tag is narrow and long unlike the U.S.

The fog lamps look more functional being brought out to the corners instead of being located in the center of the bumper.

Theres a White 2 Door for sale in Olympia WA that has the Wheel on the right. I saw it there last night...

Maybe you could low ball em and get it for cheap!!

Same in Australia - been the stock bumper since 2007. Down here the fog lamps are not allowed to be closer than 600mm, prob part of the reason for the redesign.

However, they have also been called the fat lip bumper, or the park bench bumper... Mine made a good camping seat til I lifted it

The EU bumper is to big and not good for offroad and looks ugly. Even the US bumper is to big and affects approach of angle negatively.

Look at the short bumper on this Landrover Defender, excellent Approach angle at 49 deg

EU Wrangler bumper:

Approach angle 38.4 deg.

Departure angle 31.3 deg.

US Wrangler bumper:

Approach angle 40.8 deg

Departure angle 37.4 deg

Landrover Defender :

Approach angle 49 deg.

Departure angle 47 deg.

My old 2001 Suzuki Jimny :

Approach angle 42 deg.

Departure angle 46 deg.

Suzuki Samurai: ???

Approach angle 48 deg

Departure angle 40 deg.

Hummer H1:

Approach angle 72

Departure angle 37.5

Lada Niva:

Approach angle 40 deg.

Departure angle 32 deg.

Summary:

European wrangler has one of the worst approach angles in the world in the group "real 4X4" because of the big bumper.

The US bumper aint so good either.

Dont get me wrong I love Wranglers and have ordered a 2012 Wrangler, but I do not like that Jeep have lost some of its heritage as a military vehicle.

My concerns are the ugly bumper, to big but I like it black. Painted fenders and roof, not so practical and all that Chrome, I hate chrome. The lack of flat colors, only shiny colors.

As a naturephotograper I want a more military vehicle to hide from animals and people

I really hope that we dont get that chrome thing that US wrangler Sahara have on theres bumpers.
