1st we'd have to find out about this major Jk defect ????

 

What lean are you talking about????

 

Where the Jeep leans a bit towards the passenger side. Usually no more and an inch to an inch and a half. Not all Jeeps suffer from it, which is odd. There are many documented cases on it. As well as many threads on the JK forum.

My '14 JKU didn't do it. But my '15 JKUR does. It leaned a tad before I put the Tereflex Performance leveling kit on. But definitely is more noticeable after the lift.

Some people didn't have it until they put a lift on. Others had it then it was fixed with a lift.

 

My 2013 JKUR leaned bad when it was stock, drove my ocd nuts. After I put on a 4” lift it sets perfectly level now, full gas tank or not.

 

I had JKS measure and I believe they said it was 1/4" lower on the passenger side with 1/2 a tank. So with a full tank it will be at least 1/2" lower. So no they didn't fix it.

The cheap fix is spacers, but the better fix would be different rate springs.

I wish Tereflex etc would make different length springs for this issue. Or wouldn't that really work?

I was looking at a new GC a while back. Then I thought of you and figured I's also regret getting rid of the Wrangler.

 

Did anyone ever think that with a full tank and a driver in the drivers seat, it might be level?

 

I think we all know that. Some of us let our OCD get the best of us since we like to look at our Jeeps as much as drive them.

Forget the lean, take out the rake, more important.

 

Dreaded JK lean...Holy shit, I never knew! Better trade it in before someone gets killed.

 

I love how some people get worked up anytime someone criticizes the Wrangler. It's ridiculous.

I'm sorry. But if you pay $40,000 for a vehicle, it shouldn't lean. Period. And it's been an issue for years now, yet they've done nothing about it. Why? Because it's just one more thing Jeep enthusiasts brush off as "It's a Jeep thing".

Jeep is very lucky they have such a loyal following.

For those lucky enough not to have the issue, congrats. I know I'll do a better inspection next time I trade my JKU in.

 

Mine is .5" lower on the passenger side. but only most of the time. Sometimes it's nearly level. Yes, OCD me has measured it at different times. Never once has the driver side been lower, though. I will say that I've finally outgrown caring, but it is there. Fuel level never matters.

 

How much dreadful, inexcusable leaning is plaguing it when you actually get in and drive it instead of starting at it in the driveway?

 

For the overblown price they charge for these vehicles they shouldn't have a single issue.

my 2016 JKU didn't lean. my identically swapped ordered 2017 JKU leans to the right. the next 2017 swap order didn't lean , but i declined delivery due to white overspray in the firecracker red paint all over one of the doors.

definitely don't like the lean, but it's the least of my problems with this soon to be previously owned POS. if it wasn't getting repurchased, i would be on Chrysler's ass to get it fixed along with all of the other shyte that's wrong with it. despite what some say and just bc it happens sometimes with other vehicles, a lean like this is not normal.

 

You OCD guys would hate my JK.

Most vehicles made have a "lean" to some degree and about all vehicles with a rear wheel drive will not have centered axles by design for torque flex so you do not "crab" going down the road. Look at anything long enough you will find something to nitpick. Getting all juiced up about a 1/4" - 1/2" lean is a waste of ones time

 

I guess it's just strange to me that some have the lean and some don't.

 

bc the Wrangler's build quality is very hit or miss

 

A full tank of gas weighs about 150 pounds, just like the driver. Mine has no visible lean. If it did have 1/2 inch lean I would just add some spring spacers on the low side if it really bothered me. I would make several different measurements on the suspension first.
