Go to any Jeep provider like Quadratec, look for the cargo mat that fits your year/model, check the specs and they will list length x width

 

Nice idea. But they don't give dimensions - just a fitment guide based on model of Jeep. Nor do they seem to offer a product that spans from tailgate to front seats, which is my area of interest.

Check "Specs" and they provide the dimension.

These mats are laser measured and fit snug side to side and from back of front seats to tailgate.
That should give you a pretty good idea of cargo dimension.

Despite guidance from other posts, I was unable to locate dimensional specs anywhere, including Quadratech. I strikes me as odd that car makers don't think measurements are useful; total area in cubic feet has some utility for comparing one vehicle against another, but it's no good for determining if certain items would fit.

Especially with the front seats scooted up a bit, I'm guessing it's "sleepable" with the right underpinnings.

PS - those aluminum rails are the Trail Rail cargo management option (Part No. 68419017AA).

I believe Jeep stopped offering it as a factory option.

However, and with whatever, you end up loading your Jeep, you may want to try avoiding loading it to this extent:

 

Zippinbye, I remember having the same frustration as you in trying to find out the same information you were looking for here, when I was first seriously contemplating purchasing a Jeep. It was only when I asked a Jeep owner at the parking lot of my local post office to look into the back of his Jeep, and whipped out my measuring tape, that I finally got that information.

 

A 4x8 sheet of plywood would be a hard no. Plus, you can't drive with the tailgate open, it's not a pickup truck.

 

Well, you can drive with the Jeep tailgate open, it's just not recommended.

And after seeing all the crap that builds up on my pickup's tailgate in sloppy weather, or on the uncovered spare tires of Jeeps that I see out and about, I can understand why --- because all that slop would be getting splashed up inside the back of the Jeep.

(I personally think that the idea of dangerous exhaust gases coming in through the open tailgate is largely a canard and an old wive's tale, though, as who would drive in such a way without also rolling down their windows at the same time?)
