There should be some lights. I noticed sometimes the wife’s go out, must be a lose connection somewhere.

 

Yes there is a bulb up under by the shifter. if you search YouTube you will see how to replace it. I had to replace mine. The hardest thing to do is remove your 4 wheel drive shifter knob. Some have had luck pulling and twisting it off. I tried that several times and ended up cutting it off with a Dremel and buying an after market knob.

 

There is a much simpler, non-damaging YT video made by a female for removing the knobs. It was a head slap moment when I saw how she did it. There is a bulb under the floor console cup holders with an apparent pinch release. Not much slack in the wiring.

 

Do they make a brighter bulb?

 

Yes, there is a light there. Yes, it can be tough to get the 4wD knob off (I did it by twisting using a non-marking oil can removal tool - a handle with a rubber strap and turning the knob about 15 - 30 degrees left and right while pulling up). There isnt a lot of room in there to replace the light but you can do it without removing the entire console. Suggest replacing with LEDs. Believe I used these.(you can get other colors)

 

Had same problem. That small bulb burns out easily. Ive replace mine twice now. I did not need to remove the shifter. Just shifted into 4 high and pulled the trim up as far as I could get it. Then replaced it.

 

Takes a small bulb, i think it was 2721. some have had good luck with LED equivalents

 

your bulb access for the shifter knob is on the left-hand side under the top piece of the console which can easily be broken loose by just pulling out and up. You do not need to remove the shifter knob. FYI,

A LED bulb will likely be brighter. LED bulbs are current directional. If you install a new LED bulb and it doesn't light up when current is applied, remove it and turn it around.

You might look at these. You can get them in different colors. They are pretty dim (about the same as other indicator lights).
