I have a 2000 Jeep TJ with a 2.5 Liter engine and Automatic transmission. How can I tell if it has a Limited slip or Locking differential? Thanks in advance for any input. DK.

No Wranglers ever came with a Locker except for the Rubicon. So your TJ may or may not have a limited slip differential.

If it has a LSD, it should have a steel tag bolted onto your rear axle's differential cover stating it requires a friction modifier additive. It may also have a warning sticker in the glove box warning of the LSD's presence.

A tag like this...

Don't mistake that tag for the other steel tag located at the differential cover's 9 o'clock position which gives information like the axle's ratio.

It's common for jeeps to have non-stock housings. Not necessarily for upgrade purposes but if something grenades inside it's usually cheaper to pickup a complete used housing and swap it in especially with D35's if that's what it has. Also those tags tend to get misplaced. If it were me I would open the cover and check to see what's inside. If your unsure what your looking for then google image search "Open" "Limited slip" and "locking" differential to get an idea what your seeing. Take a pic to post if your unsure. Then clean it up with brake cleaner, soak up any left over cleaner laying in the bottom with rags, clean the cover/diff mating surface of old sealant, put some RTV on the cover and put it back on. Fill it up with fresh oil and then you know what you've got and as well as a fresh oil change at same time.
