Eton E lockers in both ends, they are awesome. No air lines, compressor, no exspensive cables. I love them and would put any other rig I build.

My D30 has 30spline molly shafts Eton E locker and 4.56 gears running 37's. Ive pounded that front end on rocks and its not had one hic up. Im adding a Stak 4x4 3 speed mini monster tcase. Im not sure if the D30 size R&P can handle the 5.22:1 low range.

Is it necessary to have locking hubs with lockers?

No its not, I would suggest removing the CAD and putting in a stright shaft.

Could I just pull a shaft from an HP D30 xj and put it in?

Yes you can, you will also need the inner axle seal from the same year you pull the shaft out.

I rarely use mine, I like the challenge of doing trails open. Almost did the whole Rubicon Trail unlocked. Had to lock up the rear twice, never used the front.
