Hey guys! I was just wondering if theres any way to make the interior 100% waterproof, so that I would not have to worry about anything if I decide to go for a ride with no top or doors in the rain. Is this possible? Thanks!

Ever go into one of those houses and everything is covered in plastic. Sofas, chairs , carpet , ect. that is what you need to do. other wise things will get wet.

No way to make it water proof but there are ways to help make it water resistant. Start with removing your carpet and hurculining or something of the like your floor boards. After that we get into electronics, not something I know all to much about so I will let others talk to that. Also get waterproof seat covers. that will keep your seat dry.

I'm going to fiddle with this as soon as I get some spare time on a weekend.

Few years back I repaired mobile phones. Two of the guys I worked with took a phone and put a couple coats of clear acrylic nail polish on the board. It'd still make calls while fully submerged in water. Very cool. So my plan is to take my dash apart and look for liquid stains, corrosion, all that nasty stuff. Figure I'll clean it up and put a couple coats on. This may end up being a bad idea lol, we'll see what happens.

I've heard that you are supposed to protect the clockspring or something in the steering column... but I never did. All last summer I had my top and doors off, even in heavy rain, the carpets and seats have always dried out very fast and never mildewed or started to stink. the only thing was the speakers would hiss now and then until they dried, but they still work fine.

I have ruined books that I left in there, and once I got caught in a storm, even though it was summer, that almost made me hypothermic. I was shivering so badly I thought I would crash, and I could hardly see through the water on the inside of the windshield. Thankfully I wasnt too far from home.

I like to take my doors and windows off from my softtop in the summer. Its annoying to always put everything back on when i know it going to rain the next day. I made a list of things I'm going to do so i don't have to worry about anything if i leave my 2016 Jeep JK in the rain :p

What i plan on doing:
1) Add some water proof seat covers
2) Remove carpet and get bedliner sprayed on from Line X
3) Leave doors off
4) Keep softtop on but have side and back windows removed (Just so my center console doesn't get all wet :p)

I've been in downpours topless and doorless. I ripped the carpet out and intend to linex it. Also thinking about getting boat speakers and radio if mine ends up getting damaged eventually but so far so good. Sun comes out then bakes all the water in the seats out. Eventually I'll upgrade the seats when the rollcage goes in so I think part of me is just looking for an excuse to replace things!

rain wont bother CJ's or YJ's dashes to much and seats dry out... not sure about the TJ.
