I want to change the fluid in my 2017 6 speed manual with fluid that meets MS-9224 specs. I looked up Mopar ATF-4 on this site since I needed some for the transfer case.
2008-2024 Mopar Automatic Transmission Atf+4 Fluid 68218057AC | Mopar Estores

In the description, MS-9224 is indicated. Does this mean that Mopar ATF-4 can be used in the 6 speed as well? I’m just a little confused.

Jeep specifically recommends an ATF +4 automatic transmission fluid for use in the Jeep Wrangler manual transmission. Adequate quantity of fluid for a complete Jeep Wrangler 6-speed manual transmission fluid change. MTF change capacity is 2.25 liters or 2.29 quarts. Also used in the transfer case and power steering.

I just had the fluid changed on my JK with the manual NSG370, as the previous owner thought ATF4 was a good idea.

As mopar ATF4 doesn't meet MS-9224, I had to get a specific MS-9224 compliant oil. There is one available from Mopar.
The shifting quality has improved.

Pennzoil Synchromesh meets MS-9224. If you look at the bottle of ATF+4, it only indicates meeting MS-9602. It's possible there is a typo on the website.

Personally, I would not use ATF+4 in the transmission and opt for the Synchromesh or Mopar specific fluid. I have used Royal Purple Synchromax in place of Synchromesh in several transmission applications and it ran great - I just don't believe it officially carries the MS-9224 specification.

So my question is why does the Mopar website, in the description pictured above, indicate ms-9224?
Do you think their website is wrong? I agree that synchromesh meets the standard. Just something I saw and it confused the issue for me

What you see on the Mopar Estore is a mistake, and the actual bottle of Mopar 68218057AC ATF+4 does not call out MS-9224. ATF+4 is not suitable for the NSG370 6 speed manual in the JK Wrangler, and you should use Mopar 04874464AC NSG370 or an equivalent aftermarket fluid like Pennnzoil Syncromesh that meets MS-9224.
