Office chair mat for DIY cargo liner - too slick?

2 door 2017 JK, rear seat removed.

Thinking about going with a JKU rear cargo mat as those allegedly fit in the 2 doors without a rear seat. Trouble with those for me it you can't slide heavier items in.

Thinking about buying one of these and cutting it down. I've used mats for office chairs before that have little spikes or nubs on the bottom to hold in place but those were also slick on the top.

This one supposedly is slip resistant on the top too if I'm reading this correctly. Maybe it's slick enough to allow sliding in heavy items but grippy enough that it's not too slick for everything else.

Anyone try this approach before?

I made a mat for the back and for the front when my JKU seats are folded down, for my great danes. I used this. One side had grip, the other is slicker.

I used the existing Jeep JKU rear mat as a template for the back. Easy. Took 3x as long to cut and fit, cut and fit, wash, rinse, repeat... but it turned out perfectly. It was intended to go under a treadmill, hence the 8' length.

Bought one these to try. It's a bit smaller than desired so it doesn't quite go wall to wall.

Pros: Cheap ($21), seems to be quite durable, protects the carpet well, nubs on the back hold it in place very well. The smoothness allows heavy items to be slid in easily.

Cons: Quite slick, I bought some softener salt last week in 40 lb bags and even it slid forward a bit upon fairly hard braking. Doesn't look as cool as a "real" cargo mat if that's important to you. I never was cool so that's a non issue for me.

Outcome: I'm going to keep it for now. Give it more time before deciding what direction to take, if any. If it weren't so slick it'd be pretty good as far as function goes. Maybe I can figure out a way to scuff the slick off a bit.

I never bought one for my JK, because I don’t mind if it gets dirty, that said all my other vehicles I tried to keep pretty, so I used mats with lips, so they held the dirt, water, mud, and could be slid out holding the mess, moving it out of the vehicle. I took the OEM mat out of my father’s Element before he traded it in years ago, it was great, I should have never got rid of it.

I have a chair mat in the back of my JKUR, It's black and matches the carpet color. Similar to the OP, it is a bit more narrow but that doesn't bother me; it is covered by my cargo so the gap isn't visible. It's perfect for sliding my cooler in and out when we are on the trail.

it is longer than the cargo area when the back seats are up, so I used a razor knife to slice the "nub" side about half way through. Now when I fold the seats up, it bends with them and when I fold the seats down, it lays back flat. Works pretty sweet.
