If you don't posses an advanced degree in electronics, and are ok with so-so sound, and like the convenience of steering wheel controls, go with the 430. I did.

As far as an "upgraded" sound system goes, it sucks.

I've always wondered about the impact of outdoor conditions and rough terrain on a touchscreen and physical (spinning) harddrive system.

The 730 has breadcrumbs, so the maps are better for off-roading.

I'm cheap, so I went with the 130, and will add my own 430 (non-nav)....but I did consider the 430n as a factory option.

It's an excellent system and does everything well. About the only complaint is lack of Nav inputs while the vehicle is moving.

"......everything well"? Try to MANUALLY ENTER Lat/Lon COORDINATES under the Where To feature. Mine doesn't work on my 2013 Sahara Moab edition, and I'll bet you encounter the same problem.

This is an extremely important function that you can use in order to pinpoint a location that may not be in the NAVTEQ database such as your friends home in a new development or maybe that ditch your daughter accidentally drove into; but don't worry, since my daughter has a portable GPS unit she can call me on her cell phone with the coordinates and I'll simply enter them in my Jeeps' 430N nav radio and rescue her. Except that important function doesn't work in my radio.

I asked the Jeep dealer where I bought the vehicle to check other 2013 or 2012 Wranglers on their lot to see if they could perform a manual coordinates entry and guess what? ALL of them failed! Now what?

 

Well thanks guys... Now I'm torn between the 430N and 730N. Differences?

It's Actually not even connected to or installed near the Head Unit...It's called AutoNet which is a 3g cellular Modem installed in trunk or like and it acts like a Hot Spot,,,

Now search Uconnect Access and see what the new Ram and Dart and a couple others have with the new Systems that Chrysler is changing to. They are fading out the Old Mercedes Benz Transmissions and Can Bus...

Sprint is the Service provider for the Internet connected features on the new systems. It's gonna be a system that you can remove for an Aftermarket unit etc....Navagation will be built in but not activated til you pay $595 or something like that....

why Jeep Wrangler 430N dvd playback not working?

Hello every one.

Hoping anyone can help, I just got my first Jeep Wrangler Sahara super excited, there are lots to learn from it.
I go on you tube that I learn the 430N could be able to play the DVD. then I test on my Jeep try to play back on DVD movie , I hear the amazing sound out of the movie but can't see the movie.
secondly , It easy to transfer music or pics to HDR but if I want to delete 1 song I CAN'T , it seem only one option is delete it all.

Only works when vehicle is parked. Sound only in drive.

 

Hello thank you for reply, yes I parked while I try to play back DVD and it still didn't show video but sound.

 

What state are you in? I remember on a MyGIG forum a few years ago someone posted a list of states that do not permit front seat video, whether the vehicle is in motion or not. If yours is one of them the dealer disabled the video feature. They could unlock it with a StarScan tool but they could also get in a lot of legal trouble if they did that.

Due to certain state regulations, a function for disabling the front seat video option has been incorporated into the vehicle as a running change. This function will enable or disable the radios ability to play video in the front seat. If enabled, the radio will only play video when the vehicle is in Park (Automatic Transmission) or when the parking brake is set and vehicle speed is zero (Manual Transmission). If disabled, the radio will NOT play video in the front seat in any operating mode.

Certain state laws mandate that the Front Seat Video feature, on vehicles so equipped, be disengaged prior to vehicle delivery.

6. Select “Enable” or “Disable” as desired.
7. Select finish to exit.

I took to the dealer where I bought the Jeep. the guy didn't do much. he touch the screen here and there and it work.
the quality is good, if it glossy LCD is much better and oh man the sound from video is outstanding. LOVING IT.
