Are these the two best options for painting at home.

If I use the spare tire on old jeep as a sample, would it still show what it would look like being a steel wheel. or diff look on aluminum wheels I am painting.

Has anyone got pic of silver jeep wheels painted with Duplicolor or Wurth.

I am deciding between a black and which ever silver goes best with billet silver jeep color. The AEV silver saltas silver looks brittle/too light of a silver.

These are the sample I have come up with so far to try on spare wheel.
land rover defender sparkle silver
land rover defender quicksilver silver
duplicolor wheel silver
wurth bmw, vw, audi, mercedes, porsche standard alloy silver color

Any other light-medium silvers out there, that are darker then aev salta wheels.

Thanks for input/info.

Are you trying to match your silver body paint?

If trying to match, then get the Mopar factory paint spray cans. I find the Duplicolor options are more expensive and often harder to find the exact body match paint I need.

Alls you need is your current body color paint code and then get the Mopar spray cans that match.

For example, my JK is Deep Water Blue which is paint code "PBS". There will be a Mopar part number for spray cans, and Touch up Paint Pen/Brush for Paint code PBS. You will need to find the same for your body paint color.

Not sure. I want to sample the diff kinds of silver so I can see which ones goes with it the best. The dupli might be too much silver, as well as land rover sparkle silver. The Porsche silver might not be dark enough. If that's the deal then I might have to get billet mopar, which would be fine.

Just need to get that terrible aev silver off, because it looks like brittle. Looks fine in shade, in the light/daylight WAY to light of a silver.

I know darker then billet silver makes the billet look like shit. So it needs to be lighter or same.

I should sample the exact billet mopar spray can paint, with the others.

I needed a touchup brush paint anyways for fender install dig.

This isn't my jeep. I got pic coming to add to build thread and when talking about stuff.

You can see here, these aev wheels, I have the saltas, are too light of a silver color and seem to make the billet jeep silver look worse. In the shade there ok, in light they look like this pic.

I thinking now, the land rover sparkle silver and maybe dupli hyper silver are too silverfish of a silver and look a little like polished wheels/even when polish had worn off some.

I have seen people army/tan jeeps exact painted wheels and they look pretty good, there not a silver color though. They are a solid color, which might make them good, not sure about silverly colors.

Here are some pic with same color as jeep. As well as some black.

Some look good, but I think it depends on the actual color because some look like painted matchbox cars.

Here are the land rover defender silver wheels. Some are more silverish then others. I think theres a sparkle silver and a quicksilver silver for these wheels.

Thinking sparkle is too silverfish of a silver, like the polished wheels for a billet silver jeep.

These are the quicksilver I believe.

aev brittle silver and aluminum/polished wheels. That look sweet but not with billet silver.

Here is my jeep, with the too light/brittle aev silver salta wheels.

Looks too light of silver in daylight.

Then a pic of a metalish silver mini-keg next to the aev silver in the shade. You can see in the shade there ok, need ok in the sun as well. need darker silver then aev brittle silver.

If you are going to spray can them do yourself a huge favor. After a good cleaning and prep (400 grit sanding) use Duplicolor or Bulldog Adhesion Promoter before paint. I will help the paint stick.

I painted a set of AEV's I had on my Jeep Commander and used Duplicolor Graphite Wheel Paint and Duplicolor Wheel Clear, Set them in the hit GA sun for a day and they looked great.

I did and dint like the graphite/med. grey type color on its own. I did for black on its own, but it ghosted out the jeep I thought.

There are some work truck near my house, that are silver and one of them has a silver color wheels that are a similar color as that and it didn't make the silver of the vech look good.

I think the key is, not what the wheels look like on their own or when there dirty/muddy, but from a distance where you can see the whole jeep at once, like the pic I have of my jeep there.

You can see I have a little too much space in the fender area, but I am not looking for 35s again. Thing is I love the height.

I am wanting everyones ideas though, there might be something I havnt thought of or ideas from people can make you think of things you wouldn't have otherwise.

This pic here is why I didn't like the med gray/silver colors in terms of medium. It seems to take away from the nice silver of the jeep/makes jeep seem lighter. and I like the billet silver seems a hair darker silver then other silver jeeps from past. Its deep.

Its tuff to find the right silver, trying not to be picky but want it good/compliments jeeps silver, not take away. So I think best idea sample every kind of silver that's in the ballpark on the spare wheel by brainstorming here.

You mentioned in a later post that darker silvers make the billet silver look bad, so if you don't like my idea, just disregard.
To me making the wheels the same color as the body can be a little boring with everything matching, and a silver that isn't the same can look like a mistake because it doesn't match. Personally I would go with something that contrasts with your billet silver.
My personal preference is the granite crystal used on the 2017 Recon. IMO it looks good with the billet silver because it contrasts and compliments the color of your Jeep.
Like I said if this isn't for you, then disregard.

I totally think same with a color that compliments. I sort of donot want the same exact color. Think for most pic/live vech. Ive seen, when darker it takes away from billet. The aev arnt bad being lighter, they just look like brittle to me.

I sort of didn't mind the stock two color wheels, like your talking about and I really donot like more then one color, whatever it is.

It puts me in a fussy decision, when I am trying to see/brainstorm a bunch of ideas and colors I can sample on the spare/from my old jeep.

I do think a slightly diff. color then billet silver will be best/what I think Ill like the most. That's what I am trying to find with these Porsche or land rover silvers.

A contrast of some sort of silver and billet silver. A finetune contrast.

This thread is starting to remind me of going clothes shopping with my wife and we all know how much we all enjoy that. ;)

Which looks better, this color dress? or this color?

Does this color purse match my shoes?

Personally, I'ld likely go with a darker Charcoal greyish color. Those brighter silver wheels with the billet silver makes everything look cheap.

Its easy when you have a colored jeep, all silvers go with it.

I am glad I havnt ever had to purse shop with girlfriends, she can do that with her friends. That would suck.
