Get a meter or test light. Verify that the constant and switched hot lead behind radio have juice and that the switched one does indeed lose power with the key off.

Check the dome fuse under the dash. That is what the radio is powered from. Did your dome light stop working too?

For the love of god when working on the electrics, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.

I agree with Fabrokoner. Always disconnect the battery when work on electrical.

 

my dome light and radio quit work after big bump on the highway one day repleaced the radio senece it said 95 on the back and nothing memorey wire didnt have power i ran a wire to the radio fuse on the fuse box and now i got memery but Fabrokoner says dome light fuse is this same as under dash lihts thats what im calling dome light this makes sence because there is no fuse where it says radio never has been sence i owned it there is a wire i think for my alerm in there though and now my new memery wire i would like my lights to work again and remove said wire because i know ots wrong way to do things goin to check fuse now

 

sorry for all the misspelled words forgot to fix before posting and if it is a newer radio it will have a fuse or two on the back did you check those

 

no dice on the fuse it says 20 there is a 10 in it and its good shouldn't the dome have constant power to run lights when you open the door tested with test light only have power when key is on

 

The yellow wire is constant. The red is your ignition or accessory wire. The black is ground. Check those 3. That's all you need to make it turn on.

 

For some reason... I don't feel like your starter issue and the radio are related. I'm thinking to forget the starter and find out why the radio is shorted somewhere as it should only work w/the key to on.

Some of the after market radios have a reset button. Mine is located behind the faceplate. See if you have one and if that corrects the problem. It's a pinhole button you will need a pin or paper clip to reset it.

 

it sounds to me like we are having the same problem i have checked everything so i was going to pull the fuse block off and check behind it to see if there is a problem there since im not getting any power to my dome/radio fuse but the fuse is good and everything else works

 

Just use a jumper wire and jump to the battery. Can just jump both batt and acc from the radio. If it turns on, you have a wiring issue at the fuse block b
