My rear passenger door will not open. Brief overview.
* Door stopped opening.
* Dealership replaced internal lock mechanism.
* Door stopped opening again 3 days later
* Dealership stated the door was not aligned properly. They believed it was possibly bent causing the latch to not strike properly when closing. They said they were able to open the door by pushing on the top of the door while attempting to open it.
* Door stopped opening 10 days later.

I currently cannot get the door to open despite pushing / pulling. The dealership has stated they cannot fix the door, and they recommend me taking it to a bodyshop. They believe it is slightly bent somehow.

The door handle button has zero tension when pushing on it. The child lock does not appear to be an issue at all.

Any ideas??!?

and it wont open from the inside? if you can get it open, take it all apart and lubricate the crap out of the latching mechanism. make sure you look for any unhooked rods inside the door too.

maybe try opening the window and pushing up on the door from there to see if you can get it to open? (with the top off of course)

You may need to unbolt the hinges to get it to open. If it is not straight, that would be visible. If it is not aligned, that would be visible. Did they show you how it is not straight and / or aligned?

That said, if it is not being fixed under warranty the last place my Jeep would go to get worked on is a dealership. If it is under warranty, have them fix it. If it is not under warranty, take it to a quality shop if you are not capable of fixing it yourself.

ok so i tinkered with this a little more and got my door open. not sure this will work in every cases but from the inside of the jeep and looking at the latch on the back passenger door you will see a white knob for what looks like child safety locks. all i did was use a flat head screwdriver to "lock and unlock" the knob. my door opened. now i will say that i think there is a larger issue because the pushing the door button on the outside sounds GRINDY. I might need to lube up the mechanics inside. But alas I got the door open!

Ayo! I know it's an old post but I wanted to possibly help the next person with a stuck rear passenger door. So this has been an on and off issue for me, and today my door finally refused to open. Usually I can lock/unlock the door, pound below the handle and it'll work, not today. No resistance with the handle on the exterior, couldn't open on the interior. So I took my door panel apart by removing the two screws by the handle then the two behind the faux panel. Proceeded to pull the rubber plug out on the left hand side and checked the lock which seemed to work fine.. stuck my fingers where the plug was and found the internal mechanism for the lock which moved up and down to lock/unlock and just above it was the door switch to latch/unlatch. If you push down you'll hear a click and you should be good to go again. Gunna try to grease it up and hopefully it'll hold up for good.
