Service transmission warning

I did a regear on my 23 wrangler sport s, 3.6 v6, 6 speed manual transmission. After I did the regear I took it for a test drive. The vehicle went into limp mode. I found out afterwards that I needed to change the gear and tire size settings in the computer. I purchased a Tazer and I'm trying to use it but the service transmission warning keeps coming up so I can't see the menu for the Tazer. I tried everything I read to stop the warning message from popping up. Unfortunately, I've had no luck.

Jks it did not care what gear ratio it was on a manual. The auto jks must be programed for gears, Tires size on JKs would not cause a fault just the wrong speed display. That i have tested. you can tell it has 40s when its on 35s and wont change shift in the auto wont effect power just makes the speed way off.

So on a JL manual box they need the dif gear ratio programed or it goes to limp? Wonder why. Maybe has to do with that clutch. Must be a JL thing. This used to be so simple a caveman can do it.

DerrickVest, welcome to the forum!

I had my 2022 Willys Sport, manual transmission, also regeared to 4.56 almost two years ago now, and aside from having the gear position indicator on the top of the center dash display not working after the regearing (but since fixed), I have not had any problems with any warning lights or indications even once. And my odometer and speedometer read exactly true.

I do know, if it matters, that the mechanic who did my regearing did reprogram the computer for the new gear ratio using a JScan, not a Tazer or miniTazer.

Same thing happened to me this week. Brand new '25 Sport manual w/ factory 3.45 gears less than 200 mi upgraded to 4.88 w/ 37s at Jeeper's Den in Orlando. Immediately went into limp mode w/ transmission errors. Ricky is taking it to a nearby dealership to see what the heck is going on. This is the 5th Jeep they've lifted for me and 3rd they've regeared - first time this has happened (to me). Stellantis needs to fix this. I'm hardly the last person that will want to lift/regear their manual Jeep. I'll post more info as I get it. I think it would be wise to have a thread addressing the exact steps to resolve this.

Update: Picked it up today, no idea what they did but I saw they used a Tazer to fix it. I know Jeepers Den brought it to a local dealership and they were able to help. Drove it about 35 miles home, kept it under 55 because of the regear break-in period. Did great.
