I found this small offroad area in Midwest City. It is at S.E. 59th and Douglas.
I played for a little while but, it makes me a little nervous not knowing for sure if it is ok.
I have heard that a 4 wheel drive club owns the land.

Is anyone familiar with this area?

Is it ok to play?

I think that is part of the trail system that is part of Stanley Draper Lake, As of last year you could only take ATV's and Dirt-bikes on the trails and you paid at the Shop on the North East Side of the lake to use the trails. However I'm not 100 % sure about ownership... A good rule of thumb is in doubt don't wheel. If that is owned by the City as Lake property any one caught wheeling will be fined. That's straight from the permit office. :facepalm: Don't know where your coming from but there is a little park near there called

Nice little area on the river, but it's is small. Hope that helps.

Yea, I have been to the Draper Lake park on my 4 wheeler. Actually, the trails are on the S.W. side of the lake and you buy the permit just up the road from the park. They have barriers and signs all over the place saying that the area is restricted to ATV's and dirt bikes.

Not to dispute your post, here is some additional info.
This area is on the north side of I240. The Lake is on the south side of I240. There are not any of the Draper Park signs up at this area. No fences or barriers. The only sign, is a "No dumping" sign. It is well traveled and also has several serious mud pits. 6 to 8 feet deep. Way to deep for my jeep, even when they are dry.

There has been a lot of wheeling going on and it is not dirt bikes or ATV's. I am talking monster trucks. Just the ruts in the 6 ft. mud pits are 2 to 3 feet deep.

I play here a lot. Not owned by offroad club Okc/tinker owns it

If you have anyquestion or wanna wheel out there pm me there is actually a creek runnin thru the center if you cam get to the other side by winch there are less traveled areas not all rutted up made more for us by god lol

Not only a fine out a lake draper they will impound you and take you to jail. That is per okc police. I was out there after wheelin at 59th fishing and they pulled in behind me yellin and screamin. DON'T JEEP AT DRAPER UNLESS YOU WANNA GO TO COUNTY.

Last we had heard was :

"Just adding more info...(from Steel Soldiers, the military vehicle forum) - As of Monday 1/23/2012 there will be a $365 fine along with impoundment of vehicles caught at the offroading area behind Tinker AFB. Apparently the city only gave 48 hour notice to its officers. We need to spread the word so fellow offroaders don't get caught unaware of what's happened. The officer was kind enough to inform me that they were going to try and only warn people but the city was pushing for the hammer. Anyone caught trying to outrun law enforcement would be given full punishment plus any applicable fines they could impose. "

I work at Tinker and venture over there after work some days, and almost every weekend. I went Friday after work and had no issues.

It will definitely suck if that place gets closed.

Enthusiasts in OKC need to band together and riase their voices if the city looks to close it permanently. Remember you work hard and pay the bills, you elect the city officials, you are "the city".

That particular piece of property has had some issues on it as of late, from a kid gettin his mauled with ballbats to I wanna say 2 dead bodies being found, one was a woman they were looking for and another I was told a cadaver dog found,

Yeah the latest was a woman whose body was dumped there after a Craig's List ad for money for sex ad went wrong. I'm sorry that some kids are with out a mother but that is no reason why the rest of us should have to lose access.

I went out there the outher day and got stoped on the way out. i explaned that i was from VA and they were nice enough to let me go. They said the land is owned by the city but tinker leases it. and that because of them finding the girl out there OKC citcens want to shut it down to anyone going out there in all honesty if it wasn't for people like us they would never find bodies out there it would be a free for all dumping zone. in cases like this its never the criminals who get punished its the good guys. I don't live in OKC but i come out here 3 or 4 times a year for work and will miss it if they close it down permantly maby we can do a petition or something to keep it open?

I have nothing concrete to report but I brought it up at the last OK Jeep Thing meeting. I think the club is going to try to work something out with the city. For example use Sun Rise to Sun Set and clean up once or twice a year like adopt a highway.

I live in Midwest city. If the club does adopt it or whatever it needs to be open to the public. I am not a member of any club but i do enjoy using that piece of land.
