Soundbar installation instructions for VDP

Ok, so recently I won a bid on a VDP soundbar via Ebay. It came with everything I needed to install, but I'm a little wary of doing it myself. I'll attach some pictures of the instructions, and I'll probably keep looking back for help as this thread ensues, but any pictures that you have of your setup/installation would be greatly appreciated.

First: It says that if you drive a TJ, the soundbar should be mounted behind the the rollbar, and that there may be some factory drilled holes already. In the future, I plan to possibly use a duster and a bikini top, and would like to have the speakers inside, just in case. Is this as simple as just drilling holes in the front, instead of the back?

Once I get past the task of installing into the Jeep, I'll start worrying about wiring, but just a quick question on top of all the others, how do the lights work if they're hooked up to a ground, with no on/off switch? Would I be able to hook them up possibly to one of my switches?

Thanks in advance!

I have the factory bar and it does not fit in front of the rollbar. The door surrounds get in the way. As for mounting it if it does fit you will need to drill and tap holes for the screws, the rollbar is too thick for sheetmetal screws.

And when I did the wiring for new speakers the factory wire harness had wires for the light.

Alright, well, I accomplished a lot today. Mounted the soundbar through the rollbars and their covers, and hooked it up over the backseat, even though I would have preferred for it to be in the front. Its in there pretty tight, and now I just need to start working on the wiring.

It appears that the previous owner of the Jeep had a soundbar installed as well, because I found red and yellow wiring running from underneath the center rollbar padding down to underneath the dash under the carpet. I know the color doesn't tell anybody much of anything, but any clue what it was for, pics below. It looks like it was grounded to the side of the Jeep underneath the dash.

Maybe it was just for a light?
Speaking of lights, Jma20a, what I was asking about the lights on the bar is how do you control them in terms of switching them on and off, I don't have a switch on the actual bar, at least not that I know of... does that even make sense?

The cords that I have are the following: Fuse1a, powerground, greenred+ green(Right speaker input), white red+ white-(Left speaker input.) Actually the speaker wires are flipped because it's behind the bar, it's "backwards." Does anybody have pictures of their wiring setup, like how they brought it up through the dash? I have mine setup to run down the drivers side of the Jeep, a little curious about others have run theirs. My instructions are vague on this part.

the lights should turn on when you open the door or turn the headlight knob to one side.

as for the wiring of the speakers, i upgraded to a component set of speakers and wanted larger gauge wire. i ran the wires on the passenger side behind the glove box and under the door frame to the rollbar and up under the padding to the sound bar.

here are the pics of my wiring.

this is behind the glove box

this is under the door frame(i used sticky pads from home depot and zip ties to hold the wire in place)

and this is the wire under the padding

Sorry if I'm a little bit slow picking this up, but my headlight knob clicks out halfway, and then all the way to turn the lights on properly, not left or right. I just read the instructions though, and I saw it said attach to battery or fuse, so what I could do is attach it to my light switch fuse? Looks like I'll have to start pulling up some wiring charts!

what type of headlight switch is it? i have the pull knob, first is the parking and than the headlights and it turns to control the dimmer and when i turn it all the way to the left it clicks on the dome light and floor lights go on.

I know this is an old post, so I hope you figured out the lights by now. If not the lights pivot in the light bar and that switches them on. I have an older VDP sound bar in a YJ I picked up recently. Lo
