Anybody use one of these and can report on the quality?

I got a sick joint I have to replace.

Making clicking noise while under a bit of pressure.

The boot is ripped and from the looks of it, it's been ripped for a while and I just didn't notice it. The grease is gone and there is even a bit of rust in the joint. They come off the shaft pretty easy. It takes maybe 5 minutes to get one off. They're just held on with a simple snap ring.

Hello,

At least you are getting responses. I wrote here and nothing: Need Help - Rear Driveshaft CV Boot Seated Depth

If I had it to do over again, I would have gone ahead and replaced the joint with the Teraflex on the front drive shaft. For the rear driveshaft, I would have bought a new OEM one or went aftermarket. It is not worth the hassle. It is VERY time consuming to put the 6mm hex bolts in. I even have a stripped one. Be sure to pack the grease right if you go this route. I bought mine from Amazon for shipping speed. Northridge4x4 had the same price but they take longer to ship. Hope this helps.

The shaft itself is fine and the teraflex replacement is only $200
If you plan on selling the jeep soon, try the TF fix. If you want the best fix I would stay OEM if lift is modest or again get an aftermarket shaft from Adams or Woods, someone that makes a high quality product. Do it once and do it right, and all the other adages.................

I've got the Teraflex dual CV driveshaft front AND rear on my JKU, and they've been great. You get the benefits of the CV's with greater durability at steeper angles along with them being maintenance free. The shaft itself is better too, for it's a carbon steel tube with forged end splines. I've had them on my Jeep for over 2 years and they've been solid.

I replaced my CV with the Teraflex joint and it lasted only about a year. I replaced both driveshafts with Adams.

I replaced mine with the Terraflex Rzeppa about 10 months ago after my boot cracked in the mud pit at Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam. It's run great ever since and was a simple job. For clarity, my drive shaft is OEM but was not the original- it had been replaced by the first owner- I'm the second. I considered an Adams shaft (and looked at others) but the Rzeppa was a quicker turnaround and simpler option at the time.

I used that same Teraflex joint on my OEM front driveshaft and it's held-up very well.

It's a Unlimited with a 3 inch lift, but without a bunch of heavy thingamabobs bolted on, it's just a touch over 4 inches. Kinda pushing the limit in terms of the joint angles.

The Teraflex joint is well into it's 2nd year and while we're not super crazy hardcore crawlers, we do wheel in our local mountains quite a bit.

For me, it was a good in-between, to buy some more time with the OE driveshaft and has exceeded my expectations.

I would not recommend using the Teraflex joint. I had one, and it didn't last long. The joint itself was actually fine, but the snap ring inside the joint failed, and the shaft pulled out at the t-case end. Talking to a shop, they claimed that it's common because Jeep uses a custom sized snap ring there, but Teraflex replaces it with an off the shelf size which is close, but not actually correct. I installed a Tom Woods shaft with sealed u joints. Though I would recommend looking at the Dana shaft, as they make one that also has a sealed center ball, so you don't have to drop the shaft to grease it.

I changed mine with the teraflex joint just before last winter and it has been fine since. i'm not a hardcore wheeler or anything but I did do a 300ish mile trip towing 2 sleds in 4wd for most of it(yes that was a long drive 4hrs turned into almost 8) and plenty of other miles since then and still good to go.

I have to say, there are a number of references in this thread about how good the teraflex joint is because "x" has been running it in their rig for "y" years. This is not a good reference point for a driveline component. Miles should be noted.

Well... it's all kind of gotten out of hand and it's really kind of moot anyway. The joint was installed a few days ago now and all is fine. Noise gone and my 4wd is back in action!

I have done this and the joint didn't even last 10,000 miles. IMO get a double cardan shaft and be done with it.

I have some cheapo aftermarket front shaft because i messed up the stock one. I have the teraflex rzeppa ready to go on, i hope it lasts as i might be past the warranty. Grease is all over under there but it doesnt seem super ripped, more just fatigued and still no noise that i can tell. Hindsight rubber sucks, ujoint driveshafts are the way, specially if you droop the front end a lot
