I just got a new 2015 Wrangler and I want to to tow it with my RV . I know you can flat tow it but the owners manual said you can't tow with a Dollie ( front wheels ) off the ground . I know I have seen them on the highway . Does anybody tow like this or know why you can't . Thanks in advance for the help !!!

Jeeps are one of the few vehicles left that can be flat-four towed...and honestly, why would you dolly it? Flat-towing will wear the tires evenly, unlike dolly towing.

The disconnect to flat-tow is incredibly simple; my brother-in-law dragged his TJ all over the country four-down for six months while he and his wife travelled around. Never had a single issue.

No way to Dolly Tow without destroying parts you won't want to have to replace! Flat tow with a '15 is incredibly easy - we dragged ours around about 4,700 miles this summer with no issues. Five minutes to hook it up and set it up, wife gives it a second set of eyes to confirm I didn't screw it up (thankfully I haven't yet) and off we go. Park the rig and rolling in the jeep in 2-3 minutes tops when we got to a destination.

Tons of info on the irv2 forums - there is a "toad" board under the motorhomes board, tons of jeep threads going back a ways if you want to hear from the rv side as well as the jeep side.

I flat towed my 15 about 1600 miles in the last 6 months. Get a good tow bar mount (Currie, if you're keeping the stock front bumper) and a good tow bar. Get the Cooltech wiring harness for the lights.

"Automatic transmission must be in PARK for recreational towing." I'm confused, but how does that work? Seems like trans should be in neutral. Just asking cause it don't seem right.

The manual has very specific instructions on how to do it and yes an auto is in park, transfer case in N. I tow mine as well and it's easy. 1000+ miles the first trip. Only reason to put on a trailer is if it's a crawler and you think you're gonna break something that won't let you tow it home.

Depending on the type of supplemental brake system you might use, disconnecting the towed vehicles battery keeps the turn signals from being overridden when the brake pedal is activated. My supp brakes account for the brake lamp circuit and isolates it to allow the RVs lamps to control the Jeeps completely. Only the 3rd brake lamp doesn't work. BrakeBuddy and other drop-in designs would benefit from disconnecting the battery cable and using a charge line from the RV, or pulling the brake light fuse, or installing a switch in the brake lamp circuit.

We had to disconnect the battery on our 08 JKU when we towed it behind our RV, I think some would pull a fuse. If we didn't do this miles would rack up on the odometer.

This jeep is a manual, I thought the owners manual stated trans and xfer both in neutral.
