Hey Community,
I have a 95YJ since Jan 2025. I've been working on it slowly due to money and time. Anyway, the other day the battery died I charged it it started no problem. It was fine a few days then it did it again.
I charged it it was fine. I decided to check the voltage on battery, 12.5v seems ok then I pulled the ground off the alternator to test seems ok. While putting the ground back on, I must have hit something, it sparked. I didn't think anything of it. I did forget to pull the neg. off battery. Anyway, I hooked everything back, and I went to start. Now it cranks but won't start. I checked all fuses and replaced all good.
I don't seem to be getting spark now.
Any suggestions.
Thanx

Serious question, why do you suspect that you're not getting spark? Second question, did you verify all connections are secure?

Hi Good,
I changed plug wires, coil, distributor cap and rotor. After that it ran fine. It's after I had that spark with the alternator it wouldn't start. The other thing I noticed the guy that had it before me had a push button start you had to turn the key on then hit the push button start I swapped out the push button start for a better one cuz the one he had there wasn't wired great but it was still starting okay after that incident with the alternator I noticed when I turn the key on I don't get the engine light coming on . Also when I turn the key it would crank but not start you still had to push the push button so I'm assuming something shorted somewhere but like I said every fuse has been changed all new stuff and I tested them again everything's looking good just not sure what I did to it

No CEL on engine start could be a sign of a bad PCM. Contact Mark at @wranglerfix. He's our local PCM Guru. Based on your vehicle's age, your PCM may have been on its last legs anyway--the funky voltage introduced into the system could have just sent it over the edge.

Turn the key on and wait a few minutes to see if the CEL comes on. Should hear the fuel pump prime as well. Should start at that point. If it does start then yes ECM needs to be repaired. As the capacitors age they take longer and longer to build the charge needed to let the ECM start doing it's thing.

Welcome to the Forum @dizz65

The '95 YJ is wired a bit different than my ''87 YJ. You may have fusible links (my '87 has them). Look around your power distribution center (PDC) for several wires attached to where the 10 gauge wire from your battery attached towhatever it attaches to. Look closely at all the wires. If one of them is wrinkled, that will be a fried fusible link.
Not finding any, I'd follow @The Good Twin advice in post #4 and contact Mark at Weanglerfix.

Good Luck, L.M.

Mine used to attach to the firewall mounted starter solenoid. I'm using a newer starter, so now they attach to the starter relay. It still may be different than your '95. YJs got a PDC in 1991 or'92.
My old heap is turning into a FrankenJeep.

Good Luck, L.M.

Hello Again Community,
I just wanted to say my YJ is running again, Thanks to dante2.
It was the dome fuse. I thought I had it in the right slot, but I didn't.
Also, I appreciate everyone who got back to me with all your suggestions.
I'm definitely staying on the forum for all this valuable information.

Thank you for coming back and posting the fix. A lot of owners ask for advice and suggestions for repairs and never report back if they fixed it, sold it, or burned it to the ground.(y)
