Hi all, I got my JK about a year ago. I noticed that the temperature gauge goes a bit over the normal.
this happens when Im stuck in traffic.
The coolant is ok, fan working and there are no error codes,
I have attached an image.
My car is a JK 2014, with 25,000KM only.
Please help

Don't worry about it... normal range. Just make sure you have the correct antifreeze. Perhaps you can perform a passive flush to get the stop leak out.. refill with the recommended Mopar OAT and keep an eye on the fluid levels.

I would call that normal, for your very high ambient temperature climate.
You may try to flush your radiator out externally and remove some of the dust, from your dust storms.
Keeping your radiator clean externally, is every bit as important as internally.
Make sure that your overflow coolant bottle is keep at the correct level!!!!!!!!!!

I am in hot Arizona, but my gauge will stay closer to the center mark.
But about the highest ambient temps that we see here in a normal Summer is 115 degrees. I am guessing that your temps are considerably hotter.

Mine hits that when waiting in line for burgers, hot dogs, fries etc...EVIC says about 222-224 when the gauge gets there. Does it start to come back to half shortly after it gets there? Mine is a 14 and does this as well. Took the jeep engine cover off and the air dam...seems to run a little cooler. Seems to be normal but was the first vehicle I've had that ever went up to the halfway mark and over that wasn't overheating.

Mine has been sitting in that spot since day 1. At first I thought it should be centered in the idiot gauge, and it bothered me a bit, but it settles there every drive so it's ok with me now.

Got the car back today from the agency, They changed the radiator cap, but didnt fix the problem and told me that its normal for the temp gauge to go up a bit when stuck in traffic and then go down when moving.
ambient Temperature today is 19 Celsius (66.2°F), Im worried when summer comes, temperature here goes up to 40 Celsius (104°F)!!!!

^^^That is very interesting, that we see hotter temperatures in Phoenix Arizona USA, verses what you see. Mid Summer here, we will see our temperature sometimes peak at 115 degrees F. One year I seen 122F, but that was not normal for us.

The only way that you will now accurately, what temperature your cooling system is running at is with a Infra-Red Heat gun.
If you have one of these available to you, then just point it at the top radiator tank and pull the trigger.
This will take all of the guess work out of it!!!!!!!

I am in the dead of winter, actually -10 degrees here with -25 wind chill on a 2015 JK and my gauge hits the same mark and the coolant temperature fluctuates from high 190s to 210. I think I saw it as high as 220s. Freezing cold outside.

No idea what it will do in summer, as I've only had it for a week.

I kind of wish the Jeep didn't have these bells and whistles that just make me paranoid--oil pressure, coolant temp, oil life.. geez. I check them every damn day and I don't even know what it all means yet. My come with the Jeep manual says nothing about it

So you're replying to a dude 7 facking years later.

I'm not sure why a bunch of these newbs seem to be awakening lots of these old posts but it seems to happen daily, this is the first time on a forum i've seen such a thing.

For the moderators isn't there a way for the forum app to prevent these people from replying to old theads if they don't have 100 counts at least ? or maybe nobody can reply to anything older than 1 year ? That will cut a lot of silly responses by at least 95% :)
