Any consensus on the best oil filter for the 3.6 engine?

My local stealership wants $8.50 for the cartridge, LOL. Buy in bulk online to get the best deal or stock up when they go on sale at Autozone or wherever

Really? Walk into NAPA or your local wrench monkey shop and slap on whatever they hand you for $3 or 4.

I tend to always use WIX on any vehicle. I have on the '13 JKU also but, for curiousity I guess, I used a mopar the last time. It was absolutely identical in every way to the WIX so the rumors are true... the mopar filter is made by wix.

But the mopar will help you get rid of a couple more dollars

I've used Purolator and Fram forever. When my wife's Subaru started having troubles, they eventually diagnosed the issue as clogged internal oil supply lines. These are built into the engine and supply the overhead cams with oil. The dealer said that there are internal screens that collect the debris that makes it past the filter, and these were clogged. When I proved that I regularly change the oil, Subaru chipped in for the repair, as the car only had 60k on it. They then told me that aftermarket filters don't meet their standards and that I should only use Subaru filters. I have no idea if that's true, but I saw the clogged screens from her car. I plan to use OEM filters going forward, cheap insurance in my opinion.

I'm of the opinion that with spin on filters, brand matters because they have the anti-drain back valve bult in. They can also hide inferior media, fewer pleats, and cardboard end caps. However, with our filter, there is no anti-drain back valve (its built into the block) and every one I've seen (probably eight different brands) looks exactly the same. I'd go with whatever is most convenient or cheapest.

For the record, I use Wix.
