Carry gasoline RotopaX inside?

I'm thinking of picking up a 2 Gallon RotopaX gas container. I know people regularly strap them to the outside of their rigs.. But I'm wondering if they're OK to carry inside, (in the back near the hatch).

I've never had a chance to examine one up close. I see they're made of plastic. Are they sturdier than the common polyethylene gas containers you use for things like filling your lawnmower? I'm wondering if they seal enough so that I won't smell gas fumes when I'm driving.

Anyone carried a RotopaX in the cab??

I have one for sale. Works great. Super easy install and will work with all sized Roto and Fuel Pax. Does not hit the tail light when the gate is fully opened. I went a different route and added a plate across my spare tire to mount both water and fuel.

I put a Rotopax on my spare just to get my lawnmower gas out of the cab.

Teraflex hinge gives you the strength to carry a bunch of fuel on the back, amongst other things:

Rotopax containers don’t vent. Sealing against leakage is hit or miss. If you only fill it about 3/4 and aren’t in a place where the interior temperature will fluctuate a lot, you might get away with having it inside. But I’ve found that any gas container, including the multiple rotopax containers I have, leak and exhaust fumes. So I keep them outside.
