UPDATE.. we checked codes ourselves and ZERO codes show 🤦🏼‍♀️***
2013 wrangler unlimited - Going 60 on Hwy with cruise control on, Jeep kicks cruise control off and Check engine light and traction control lights come on and remain on and speed drops to aprox 50-55 mph max, this is the sending time this has happened (first time was about four days prior, I cleared code by disconnect a battery and reconnecting) ANY idea on what’s going on?

Welcome to WF.

With a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited you should be able to check your own codes?

Check the codes and post them and someone can help you further.

We checked codes and there’s ZERO codes but lights are still on 🤦🏼‍♀️

You probably need a more capable code reader than just simple powertrain ones as this will be related to the ABS module. However, if you can’t accelerate past 55-60 mph, then there is something keeping the engine from revving higher, which says there should be a powertrain code.

So re: codes, I’d say only a lamo cursory pull was done. Personally, I’d get the JSCAN application for your phone and one of the dongles and you can do WAY more than a simple Autozone style code pull.

However, you might want to start looking at the battery and see if it’s healthy.

if their is no code but the light(or lights) come on then you are probably using a basic OBD2 scanner that just reads engine codes. you need a more comprehensive scan that reads the transmission, body control, ABS and power train, and any other name for a module you can think of to find all those codes that a basic reader won't read. these things are very complex these days and if the speed sensors and accelerometer under the console and steering angle all don't agree on something it will kill the cruise and the power to keep it safe to drive... til ya shut it off and restart, but a complete scan should still come up with a code for something

What causes traction control light to come on randomly

In some cases, the warning light may come on because wheel-speed sensors are covered with road grime or debris. When the traction control warning light stays on, that means you aren't getting any help from the system to control traction and the system needs to be checked.

i know you aren't asking me but my reply is to check for codes....even if it has to be before restarting. and the people saying there is no code is probably because they are trying to read with a ond2 scanner that only checks for emissions related faults and such. they normally won't read the abs, traction control, transmission and all the other "systems" in the vehicle and that is where the problem is. you need a more comprehensive scan. I personally use jscan on my jeep or I have a buddy with an expensive scanner that will read it all. when this happened to me it was because a wheel sensor was not reading properly....that is what the code told me. from there I had a place to start.

Traction Control most certainly will trigger limp mode. I've had it happen to me.

I've been fighting with random engine codes and traction control kicking the engine into limp mode. Turned out to be wires with cracked insulation. Repaired the wires and performed a relearn on the whole system (recently replaced cam and crank sensors, cam phasers and oil control valves, all rockers and lifters) and now my 2012 Rubicon purrs like a kitten. Gas mileage went up as well.

I have replaced both camshaft position sensors with mopar sensors, replaced the front ABS sensors with mopar sensors, the transfer cases switch with a mopar sensor, the spark plugs with mopar spark plugs, had new camshaft position sensor wiring harnesses installed for both camshaft position sensors and most recently I had a new negative battery terminal installed and the oil galley bolts checked and torqued on both sides, the timing belt checked and tightened and the general belt tensioner replaced with two additional pulleys replaced.

Not only is the ABS light, check engine light and limp mode still all on but the problem is actually worse and more consistent since the mechanic three days ago checked/tightened the oil galley bolts, tightened the timing chain and replaced the tensioner and pulleys. For the last three days the car has been in constant limp mode with both the ABS light and check engine light on

I have a 2014 Jeep wrangler with 177362 miles that’s otherwise in very good condition and has been well cared for.

is this the end of my Jeep ?

I can’t find anyone who can figure this out and Chrysler designed the codes to be completely useless for anyone other than like a select few at dealerships who can interpret them….Skum bags

what do I do next ? Can anyone with knowledge about this issue or any of the codes on the Chrysler oil galley bolt star report provide any suggestions as to what I should try next ?

I get all the codes listed in the attached Chrysler star report with no rhyme or reason so I don’t even bother keeping track of them even more. Can anyone please tell me what they think is causing this ?

There doesn't seem to be any answers. I have the same problem. Replaced all speed sensors, abs sensors, O2 sensors, cam sensors, etc with all dealer parts. Even replaced the pcm. $1300 Autel scanner that will do absolutely anything you need it to do. Still throws traction control lights and limp mode nearly every drive I take it on with no active codes, only stored codes. But every one of these YouTube mechanics will say "got 2 be dem speed sensors." Point is there are tons of forums about this same issue and no real answer. Dodge knows about this issue and didn't do anything for it. Just don't buy another 2011-2013 Chrysler product.

I recently picked up up a power probe with ECT. Gonna put that to use tomorrow to see if I can find any shorted or broken wires within or under the Durango. I keep reading about some brittle wire being found but no one ever says if fixing that has fixed the traction control/limp mode issues. After 3 visits to the dealer and no answers and thousands of dollars... I am about ready to send it to the junkyard. But I will post again if I find anything. Good luck out there.
