They were one of the few that said Made in the US, and they're based in my town. I'll check out the tractor supply 2 miles from me and see what they have :thumb:

The latest is whoever can make the cheapest one in China and charge a huge markup. Personally I go with CM shackles, made in USA, and I trust the load rating design factor of 6:1. Who knows with the china ones.

I have been in their (Columbus McKinnon) plant in Chattanooga TN and have done work with them. They have been doing this a long time and they are on top of quality control. 100% American Made with US steel.

IMO, skip over all the potential junk out there and buy some Crosby G-209A Alloy Screw Pin Shackles. 3/4" G-209A is rated at 14,000 lb WLL. They can typically be purchased for just under $40 each. Not cheap for sure, but who wants to rely on a $10 offshore-made shackle in a critical recovery situation?

That's a good point. Another good point, is who wants to put a $40 shackle on that often get stolen?

I like my shackles. Came powder coated and cost way less than $40 ea. If ever I feel unsafe, I could always put chain/straps through both front shackles. 2 shackles are safer than one. Doubles their load capacity and you have a backup for safety, if that's a high concern purchasing decision.

 

You can get D shackles, or you can get D shackles, but you can't have doze shackles.
