I've seen hard tops with the vinyl upper half doors

 

Pretty sure bestop supertop uppers work

I know my bestop soft doors fit my hardtop and my supertop

 

I am running half doors with a hardtop but I had to take TJ uppers and modify the rear location pin just a little but they work great, in fact so good I sold my solid doors yesterday.

 

Can you provide any details on how they were modified?

 

I have read about modifying the TJ uppers (as batjac said) I have ask Bestop if the YJ Upper sliders would work with a hardtop and they told me that they would not so I never tried. The other option is the BullDawg Fiberglass Uppers work (https://www.bulldawgmfg.com/shop/Jeep_Wrangler_Upper_Doors_YJ_87_95-2-1.html)
They are expensive however.

 

If you don't mind spending a little, you could pick up a pair of the bulldawg fiberglass uppers. I just got a set for my TJ. They are pretty solid...tinted sliding glass windows and a bunch of extra armrest space.

No typo, I purchased TJ uppers to fit on my YJ half doors. The rear pin on each one needs to be cut just after the bend or between the bend and upper, I think its about .5" of material removed and weld back together. Easier to do if you cut the pin then set the upper on the door and measure. The front two pins will line up perfectly.
