Has anybody read anything on the dreaded Jeep Lean that the JK's were plagued with? Hoping the JL fixed this issue.
In Naval Aviation, we called those creaks and pops "night noises". During the day you were to busy to pay attention, but patrolling at night you are more aware of them. I guess my half deafness from carrier operations is a blessing as I don't hear the little noises.Unfortunately Jeeps and OCD don’t mix. I also hate any noises from inside or out. Driving my JK in the winter is annoying with different creaks and pops. All acceptable and no big deal to most, but my ears hate those types of noises.
My 2013 JKUR leaned bad when it was stock, drove my ocd nuts. After I put on a 4” lift it sets perfectly level now, full gas tank or not.Where the Jeep leans a bit towards the passenger side. Usually no more and an inch to an inch and a half. Not all Jeeps suffer from it, which is odd. There are many documented cases on it. As well as many threads on the JK forum.
My '14 JKU didn't do it. But my '15 JKUR does. It leaned a tad before I put the Tereflex Performance leveling kit on. But definitely is more noticeable after the lift.
Some people didn't have it until they put a lift on. Others had it then it was fixed with a lift.
You should check into BMW!For the overblown price they charge for these vehicles they shouldn't have a single issue.
I love how some people get worked up anytime someone criticizes the Wrangler. It's ridiculous.Dreaded JK lean...Holy shit, I never knew! Better trade it in before someone gets killed.
Mine either.My JK doesn’t lean..
.
No one is getting worked up over people critical of the Wrangler, they're poking fun of the overly dramatic way it is being criticized. There is also the fact that the "dreaded lean" affects a lot of other vehicles as well, it isn't a "Jeep thing." My Ram did it, my friend's F150 does it. You have a soft suspension with a lot of travel. Unloaded, you may have some lean. Once you load it up, it usually goes away.I love how some people get worked up anytime someone criticizes the Wrangler. It's ridiculous.
I'm sorry. But if you pay $40,000 for a vehicle, it shouldn't lean. Period. And it's been an issue for years now, yet they've done nothing about it. Why? Because it's just one more thing Jeep enthusiasts brush off as "It's a Jeep thing".
Jeep is very lucky they have such a loyal following.
For those lucky enough not to have the issue, congrats. I know I'll do a better inspection next time I trade my JKU in.
bc the Wrangler's build quality is very hit or missI guess it's just strange to me that some have the lean and some don't.
