Jeep's traction control kicking in for no reason

Jeep stats:
2017, 26xxx miles, Sport S, No LSD, No lockers, No mods associated with what could be the problem, always garage kept.

On my way to work today, clear day, roads are clear clean and dry. Not peeling out or gunning it. The Jeep suddenly is cutting its own power and the T/C light is flashing at me. I let off the accelerator and try again. It cuts power and the T/C light flashes at me. It feels just like I'm in deep snow with 2wd.

I pull into a parking lot, turn it off for a couple minutes and try again. The Jeep runs like it never happened.

When I got to work I tried the ignition ODB2 procedure and got this: ------ dOnE. That's a good thing.

What could cause this?
I suspect it could be dirty wheel speed seonsors
(The Jeep is clean)

I had that problem on my 2015. Ended up being a bad sensor at the wheel. Dealer replaced under warranty as well as fixing a leaking axle on the same side as the bad sensor.

Would usually start about 10 miles into my 15 mile commute to work. If it sat long enough no problems until another 10 or 15 miles driven. I also did the check and just got the "done" message also.

I think you need a scan tool to read abs/sensor codes etc...

this happened to me a couple times too.
the negative battery post has an acorn nut and one separate connection under it. tightened it up, still occurred. moved the separate connection and tightened the acorn nut again....hasn't happened since.

also hooked the tender up to it overnight as the battery was a bit down on charge

If your steering wheel is straight it could be the wheel sensors like everyone mentioned. I'd check all your steering is tightened. Track bar, drag link, and tie rod. Any of those are loose will throw your traction control on. For the longest time my Jk would intermittently throw the traction control. I replaced all 4 wheel sensors and it wasn't until I took a video of my steering and found the track bar bolt to the frame loose. When I checked it it felt tight and I couldn't even budge it with my hand but as soon as I turned the wheel left or right there was play.

Had this happen to me yesterday. Almost got hit by a Chevrolet pickup coming up from behind. I couldn't do anything! Almost a total loss of power once the traction control engaged. I'll be buying the Bluetooth OBD-2 dongle to get this taken care of asap before something bad occurs. Very scary moment. Can't imagine if it happened while on a highway.

Hi! Just purchased my first Jeep ('14 JK Sahara, 6-speed) this past weekend and experienced this very thing this afternoon. I've been driving it since last Saturday with no problems. We've had heavy rains the last two days and leaving work this afternoon, I was accelerating up an interstate on-ramp when the Jeep started bucking with the TC light flashing sporatically on the panel. Bad enough I wasn't expecting this, but I had a very large van barreling up my backside! Once I got it up to speed on the interstate, it smoothed out. When I got off at the next exit, I ran though the gears with heavy acceleration from a dead stop and didn't notice any problem. It only did it while trying to go up the ramp.

EDIT: Unfortunately, my Jeep did not come with an owner's manual. I just downloaded a PDF copy of it and reading through the ESC section, I think I may have just been experiencing the system doing what it's designed to do. Perhaps I was starting to get wheel spin while accelerating up the wet on-ramp and the system was cutting power to control it. If so, I apologize for taking up everyone's time with my Noobie-ness. I imagine I've got a lot to learn.

Hi, I’m new here. 2012 Wrangler Unlimited 4 Door. Been having trouble with my traction control light flashing now and then and didn’t understand what was going o. From what I’ve been reading now it makes sense why my cruise control would cancel.
I first experienced this problem a few weeks ago while pulling an empty 4 place snowmobile trailer to pick up a side x side. Now it happens a lot even without pulling anything.
Would the stabilizer shock have anything to do with the problem if it’s leaking and needs replacement? I just noticed the stabilizer shock is leaking fluid. Hopefully that’s problem and can be fixed by replacing the shock.
Lots of great ideas and remedies. Thank you.

Just turn off the traction control. You don’t need a dongle for that

That button only lowers the traction control a little bit. If you really want to disable it, you have to disable the ESC/TC module under the center console.

Excellent suggestion!
I was having issues in 4 low on gravel, washboard trails with the idiotic ESC/TC control module kicking in. The road curved around, but the so called safety feature ESC/TC kicked in and forced the Jeep to go in a straight line, right off the cliff! [I panic stopped just in time] I had turned off the traction control, but the blasted thing refused to go off completely. [Even in 4 wheel low] I put in a switch to cut the power feed to the ESC/TC control module and that killed the "safety feature" completely. I am now afraid to purchase a new Jeep because of all of the "new safety features" the feds are forcing the manufacturers to install on their vehicles. Another trouble area: Sand Dunes..... try driving in the sand with your fabulous ESC/TC control module and see what happens!
