Looking to getting some stuff from them, bumpers, rockers and stuff. Would like to hear some reviews about their products before i get them! Thanks guys!
I almost bought them before with only seeing the pics on their site on a YJ. I like everything about them, it's just my size 12 4EE boot... I guess however far they go underneath is all they need to, I trust Savvy has figured that out for us. I just wish the step was at least 3"-4", then I wouldn't have to think twice. Just like a lot of things, nothing is exactly what you want. I like that the solid piece won't hold in branches, that was a constant fight before, and probably would be again with the PSC's or Genrights. I'm sure they are all good quality and can take a beating, I just want to do it soon and not regret it. If you have time and it's not putting you out, I guess a pic/measurement would help for comparison. Maybe MrBlaine could make a custom extra wide step for me if I called and asked real nice? Lol.geiman said:Completely understand, and definitely not saying it's uncool, just that I don't find steps useful in this situation. I think if they were out further from the Jeep they would be more useful, but then you would be dragging/getting hung up on them more. The reason I went with the Savvy sliders is simply because they have enough of a slider to be useful but not too much so that they hang you up.
I can get pics of the underside in a bit if you wish. In my opinion they do protect the underside a good bit, and I've scraped there more than a few times. They even use countersunk hardware on the bottom where possible so that you're not getting hung up on fasteners.
I highly, highly doubt it for any price you'd be willing to pay.Maybe MrBlaine could make a custom extra wide step for me if I called and asked real nice? Lol.
Thanks for the measurement. I'm wondering if they cover more underneath than the PSC or Genrights? The PSC pics don't look like they cover much in the front in that area, and the Genrights look like they cover more, but I've read reviews that complain that they don't cover as much as others. I wish I could see them all in person, then it would be much easier (and I'd already have one of them mounted). The step aspect will become less important when I put a lower lift on, right now I'm getting 5-5.5 inches of lift on 4" OME springs. I'm pretty much set on the 3" Savvy lift... But then I hear they are coming out with a mid-arm lift soon... Either way, I had steps before and took them off when they rusted. I didn't see the big deal either, thought it was funny seeing people try to get in the passenger side. I'm 6' and never had a problem getting in, but after I wiped out on the ice last winter and about ripped the steering wheel off/shoulder out of socket, my next set is going to have a step, no matter how "uncool" it is. Lol.
Gerald had mentioned a few weeks ago on JeepForum about a mid arm kit they are working on which might be where he heard about it.Blaine has been making a mid arm for a while but it's all hand made custom work. Not cheap for sure but very nice. He was working on one last weekend when I was there. As far as being available in a kit I don't know since it has all new brackets to welded on and such....

Yes, that's where I read about it. I plan on re-doing the mounts anyway, so it seemed like a great idea. I've been reading everything I can find suspension wise for a long time now, finally got the funds to make a move. Like I said, pretty much sold on the 3" Savvy kit then modifying the brackets, etc. I'd hate to do all that just to envy the newest thing out, but such is life, right? I figure if they are coming out with a mid-arm it would obviously come with new frame mounts, taking out a little guesswork on placement, etc.geiman said:Gerald had mentioned a few weeks ago on JeepForum about a mid arm kit they are working on which might be where he heard about it.
Yeah, that's where the "lol" comes in. I'd obviously be willing to pay more, but I know he's busy. I tend to get carried away when I get into something, and when I see how the Genright Aluminum mini- boatside only comes ready for the 4" stretch package... I start to get bigger plans. I'm sure id end up saving money paying way more for a Blaine original than diving into everything required for the stretch. I have to leave something to plan on later, right?Imped said:I highly, highly doubt it for any price you'd be willing to pay.

I just checked with our sales department and these are currently in stock. Also, if you're more comfortable dealing with your local 4 Wheel Parts store, you may order our parts through them if you prefer.
If you can live with the larger "Comp" stinger, there's a TJ BFH Bumper with Comp Stinger, powder coated (we don't normally offer them coated) currently on our Garage Sale Page. You could save a few bucks and get the powder coating to boot.
If you were talking about the stand-alone Trail Stinger (not the BFH version), Here's a photo of it:

I checked on these for you as well. We do not currently have any of them finished up but all of the parts are in stock and one could be made for you within a few days of your order.
Hope this info helps you with your shopping.
Honestly we don't really sell many of the stand-alone Trail Stingers any more. We keep them around because they were an original Poison Spyder product so its sort of a nostalgia thing. And at only $200 or so, they're a cheap way to get a hunk of metal onto the front of your Jeep. But we much prefer the BFH bumper. It's an actual full plate bumper, even though its very low profile and only the width of the frame rails. But the structure of the BFH bumper lends more strength to the stinger bar than the stand-alone stinger has. And if you're running a winch with the BFH Bumper, you don't have to purchase a separate winch mount plate like you do with the stand-alone Trail Stinger (you'll still need a Fairlead Mount though). What should I get the BFH or the regular trail stinger, I like ramming random stuff, so can you help me with the decision?
