It time to replace my rear axle shafts on my '12 JKU Sport with some chromoly ones. I don't feel comfortable wheeling 35s on the stock shafts. I have a few questions:

1) I have a Dana 44 on the rear with an Eaton TrueTrac installed, how many splines is this?
2) I see many axles are "cut to length".... which length do I need and do I really need to cut them??
3) Many axles don't come assembled and require tone ring and bearings to be pressed. Whats a typical shop fee for this work and will pretty much any mechanic shop be able to do this?
4) I plan to replace my rear rotors and pads when I do this, are there other maintenance things that should be performed at this time, or any other parts I might be missing?
5) I'm also changing out the front to chromoly and ordered up some Ten Factory MG22152 front axles, any other surprise parts I may need for this install?

If you want to make it all worth it,,, think about doing a Free spin hub conversion. Tera flex and Yukon make kits. I just did the Yukon.

When you order your parts it will say what kind of Jeep it's for...if you just get the already assembled shafts all you do is slide one out and slide the new one in...no worrying about pressing anything....as for splines...rubicons have 32...the sport platform has 30...really beefed up aftermarket stuff has 35...all jk's have a d44 for a rear axle....really the only thing I would do extra is replace the rear wheel speed sensors while you're in there....they are cheap and it makes sense since you'll have it all apart....

There are plenty of axle shafts that are already the correct length. You should not need to cut your axles to length.
You can also buy rear axles that have the bearing, tone ring, and seal, pressed on. Even the wheel studs can be already pressed on. Or some shops like Northridge will do that for you as part of a package deal.
A normal D44 from a sport has a 30 spline axle shaft. A Rubicon D44 has 32 spline axle shafts stock. The two axle shafts (left and right) are also different lengths in that one. Then there are aftermarket set ups that have 35 spline axle shafts.

if you are using your stock rear axle shafts now with the eaton just get the pre assembled factory ten from northridge44 for a non rubi. plug and play.
