You're complaining you're hitting the rev limiter when the engine is cold? What rpm are you hitting? Are you revving it hard when the the engine is cold?

 

I like to bounce mine off the box a few times right after a cold start lol.

 

Is the check engine light (CEL) on?

 

I highly doubt he's actually getting into the rev limiter... I don't think that would warrant a post on here with a question...

I suspect what's happening is is engine is down on power or for some reason limiting itself where it shouldn't be...

 

X2. The rev limiter is set at 5200rpm, if I recall. We need to know what rpm limit the OP is experiencing.

i do not rev it hard it cuts out at 2500rpm and even after it gets warm it still cuts out untill i shut it off and restart it cuts out at the same rpm when your reving it without a load and engine light is on but it was on before it started doing this

 

What codes are you getting from the CEL?

To get the trouble codes you need to turn the key without starting on-off-on-off-on & read the code(s) if any, in the odometer display. It will say done when finished or in some early yrs using 2 digit codes say 55. For those “12” may come up but disregard that.

This works on most yrs but not all including some around 2000.
