Rancho has a shock that is adjustable. Get those and set it to the softest setting.

 

DD and zero time off the pavement? Sounds like a job for STOCK SUSPENSION!

 

I would have to agree. There are some 'softer' riding kits out there, but I don't believe any of them ride like stock. You would need to find a spring that is longer, but has the same spring rate as stock. Then you would need shocks that as soft as stock, so a stock replacement, or adjustable dialed down.

I would put a 2" spacer lift on it, and stock shocks. If you really need 3", add a 1" body lift. That'll get you to the mall and back just fine.

 

Why do you need a 3" lift if you are never going offroad? just curious.

You could do the Jk suspension swap (stock jk springs and shocks) , supposed to ride quite nicely and should give a bit of lift as well. There is a thread on here somewhere about it.

 

I'll bite...different perspective I think...I understand what you want (I think)..IMO ome SL lift 1.25 BL, and 33x12.50 15 duratracs...it make my TJ ride as well as my JK...well at least in my mind.....I think a lot of it is the tires actually more surface area and only about 26-28psi is SOFT!!!!

for a few years i ran a rancho 2.5 rockcrawler kit (short arms) with 33" tires. with shocks on the softest setting it was plush. that jeep swayed with more grace than beyonces arse. gosh i miss her...er, that jeep.

seriously, i found this a great compromise setup for street use and mild offroading

Talk to Dirk at DPG off road, he'll get you a set up you'll want- I went with a set up and it's better then stock ride. I wish you the best and enjoy that Jeep!

 

Check out the Old Man Emu light load lift kit. Good kit, great ride and with the light load kit, a pretty soft ride. If you want a bit firmer, the OME heavy load kit might be a better choice. OME is a better ride than stock IMHO.

 

You will get zero complaints regarding ride quality of OME lifts. Pricey but well worth it. Combine OME coils with OME, Bilsteins, or adjustables Ranchos shocks and you will not be disappointed with the better than stock ride quality. Like others stated, check with DPG offroad. They specialize in OME lifts and will find the right combo for your application.

 

Stock suspension will be the softest, you should get a 1.25" BL and run 32s since you don't plan on wheel'n it and replace your stock shocks with RS9000's and run on the softest setting. thats the shocks I run on stock coils and i love it!

Don't do a body lift. It looks goofy! I would go with BB spacers and soft-riding shocks or the Old Man Emu springs. Or, call National Spring, give them your requirements and let them custom build some springs for you. This may be less expensive than OME.

 

Call dirk at DPG Offroad. He can set you up with an OME lift that will fit your jeep as far as spring rate goes. And if OME isn't what you want (it is a bit pricey) he can help give you suggestions that may suit you better. Now he may try to sell you his more expensive lift, the "Ultimate TJ lift" (he talked me into it) but its because all of the steering and other upgrades that come with it will help your jeep perform as its supposed to on and offroad (if you choose to do there, which you will with a lift, it's impossible) he's a real good guy and he does sell a package with just springs and shocks that he will sell to you, he just doesn't like to sell it because he's a "do it once and do it right" kinda guys.

 

it seems a lot of people agree that OME ride is the way to go...I know this old man likes it....IMO it rides as well as my JK...granted not as quiet or as much power...but very smooth. I don't understand why some say no BL, this TJ has a BL and OME SL and works fine for me.
