my airtex from advance auto parts works fine on my 4.0l most issues with pumps is mis installation/sloppy installs. to have the best experience do the following:


1. clean out the tank when you drop it
2. put a new fuel sock on the pump
3. put a new fuel filter in the jeep
4. FILL the tank up before start up, dont qtr fill it etc

 

Had an Airtex that was very noisy. Others have had bad luck with longevity. I replaced the one in my 94 with a Bosch from Advance Auto for about $100. Can't even hear it run and have not had any problems so far.

i have a 87 4.2 and my fuel pump is up on the frame above the driver side front wheel, is that normal? i thought they were in the tank lol

 

My second airtex just started making noise already replaced it about 8 months ago under warranty will never buy another airtex again they are junk.

 

Just replaced mine. Got it from Partsgeek. It is a US Motor Works, says professional series on the box. I got the entire unit. Fuel pump and sending unit. It looked identical to the stock one that came out. I also did the fuel tank mod to increase capacity from 16 to 20 gals. The unit I bought was for a 20 gal tank.
