Just purchased my Jeep about week ago and ready to hit the hills. Area is wooded with thick layer of leaves, basically virgin forest with some streams that have steep banks. But not sure how much I can push my Jeep. Its stock 4.0 5 speed. How steep of hill can I descend, tranverse or climb before it flips or rolls! Something less than 90 degrees :atomic:.

Maybe their is a Jeep drivers manual out their????

Trial & error is the best manual. Too many unknown variables such as, surface conditions, tires, driver, etc. That's the great thing about a Jeep, it will let you know what it can/can't do! Have fun!

Great post ! A stock YJ will go plenty of places even enough to get you into trouble. Do not go wheeling alone , join a reputable club associated with blue ribbon or united 4wd. And go with them. I've taken my 89 up the same trail as my xj goes but had to stop because of clearance issues and lack is ability to climb 3-1/2' tall ledges with a 85-90* face being 100% stock.

The biggest unknown is driver ability, not jeep ability. Jeeps can go amazing places stock with a seasoned driver. I remember being with some friends after climbing a steep trail to an old mining area. We were at the top celebrating our driving skills and our jeeps toughness when along comes an old bearded man in a 60's era El Camino loaded with mining tools. He stopped gave us a good morning and dropped down the back of the mountain. Talk about deflated egos, this old guy had the skill to drive a 2wd up a mountain we thought was only passable in 4wd. Take some time to learn your jeep, you'll let it down before it lets you down.
