My 2010 Wrangler Sport has 66,000 miles (average 8,200 per year). Every warning light on the dash is on (ABS, ESP, Anti-skid, Brake). I took the Jeep to the Jeep dealer for diagnostics. I was told the "ABS module has failed" and the brake fluid pump "might" be seized but they can't tell until they take the system apart. The repair estimate is $800 to $1,300.
I have the warranty extension letter from Jeep for the "front brake caliper hoses and both wheel speed sensors". I contacted Jeep Customer Care and i was told the ABS system failure was not part of that warranty extension. The Customer Care rep would not offer me any assistance to repair the ABS System failure. This vehicle is street driven only. No off road use ever.
I'm looking to hear from anyone that can offer an opinion on this problem, or suggest an alternate approach with Jeep Customer Care. I have an independent technician that I trust. He can probably do the repair for less money. However, it is reasonable to think the ABS System would fail at 66,000 miles???????? This is my first Jeep Wrangler.

Your comments are welcome

I welcome any comments, suggestions, or similar experience members have with the ABS module failure. Is this an isolated incident??? Has anyone else had the ABS Module fail????????? I would appreciate your help finding a solution. If the solution is "suck it up and cough up $1,300....... let me know. I'm just looking for options. Thanks.

I've changed brake lines at the wheels before. My understanding is that the module in question has some fairly complicated piping inside of it. Apparently if the module runs dry (out of fluid) a special computer routine has to be run when bleeding the brakes to get all the air out of the abs module.
If a leak happened or a brake bleeding job ran the reservoir dry, maybe that's the issue.
You don't have a ton of miles, but it is an 8 year old module - perhaps it has failed.
The parts under warranty connect from the wheels to the jeep, but don't sound like they'd include the module.
I personally have had abs/traction control save me the embarrassment of running over a curb while turning (too fast) into the office on a rainy day, so if it were my jeep I'd probably bite the bullet.

Looks like modules are $200-400 online, so hopefully your independent mechanic can do the job cheaper.
The module is basically a block with a bunch of metal tubes screwed into it, and it should be easy to reach without removing a bunch of other parts. Hopefully that means it's not a ton of labor for your independent person.

just looking through old posts and saw problem with abs.I also have 2010 jeep wrangler that had abs pump failure at 32000 miles just street miles felt like brakes were dragging put into neutral jeep would roll down driveway picked up pump and module used online for 150 shipped
