Mine is sahara2dr 2013 with premium softtop but the side window flapping crazy on highway speed:banghead:
I put hardtop back yesterday, but the soft top is my love, it goes topless faster , soft top will be perfect to me if it does not flap...
Anybody fixed the flapping problem? Maybe use a tape to paste the side window?

A) sunrider top w/ all plastic windows off - flap on highway speeds bcuz the attached tailflaps acts like a mini parachute but minimal wind resistance as opposed to the rear window being attached.

B) sunrider top w/ side windows attached - should cause no flap.

C) sunrider w/ rear window attached - PARACHUTE

topless - should solve A and C.

^that. The side window on the soft top should not flap. Puff out at highway speeds maybe, but no flapping.

Strange...I've had soft tops on my last 2 jeeps...have never noticed any window-flapping. Check your window sticker...maybe they included the Flapping option with the premium top.

For me, the soft top right above my head will flap sometimes in high winds or passing trucks. Solution is to inflate the top by running the blower........

I also have a brand new top and therefore its not totally in its final shape if you know what i mean.

Dunno if thats what youre talking about or not.

Love my soft top.

Side windows will actually be sucked in and directly pressed against the bar when set up correctly. This is due to air movement and inside pressures that are less than outside. You can turn the blower on one click and the side windows will puff out - this is with the rear window in. With the rea window out, they will suck in and be against the bar now matter what.

Flapping is usually due to incorrect installation. Usually.

As stated before, you don't have the L shaped leading edge of the rear window tucked into the door surround properly. I had to go to the dealership and look at the rear window to see how they are supposed to be installed. Properly installed they don't flap at highway speed.

The other thing you can do, which I've successfully done in later TJ's with the tailgate vent and the JK, is to block the tailgate vent when you're running the soft top. I usually use gaffer's tape, since it comes off without leaving any residue. You definitely need the vent unobstructed with the hard top... But when you block it with the soft top, less air gets out, allowing the fan to do a better job pressurizing the top at higher speeds. This did more with the TJ, but it helped with my JKU, too. And needless to say, this only works with the windows up!

i forgot to tuck the windows at the bottom my first time putting them back on and they flapped. there is a lip that the window tucks into where the door seals AND at the bottom. with my premium soft top, NOTHING flaps and i am stunned at how quiet it actually is at 70+.

The premium top has a new fabric which is more cloth like than the older tops. It also has a tighter fit and a headliner inside that the standard tops don't have.

We need pics of the offending window problem folks.

As already mentioned at least 4 times. If the side window leading ledge is not rolled into the groove in the surround, it simply will not stay in place. When in place and doors closed there is absolutely NO WAY the window can come loose. AAMOF someone cannot even steal the side windows with the doors locked, they are that tight.

So you fellas having probs. if you can pull the side windows off without opening the doors, they are on wrong!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! This is the best explanation of how to install my side windows. Today, I was driving to work and the drivers side window was literally slapping against the side of my jeep. So much so, that I pulled over and tucked it in again. Having read this very simple explanation, I will be installing my side windows correctly tonight when I get home. I can't believe I couldn't figure this out and it was driving me mad. I was actually considering putting my hard top back on because it was so annoying. This side is incredible and I'm so glad to be a member. You guys are awesome.
You have made me a very happy Jeeper!!! :jawdrop:

I do this:
-start zipper a few inches
-bottom retainer
-door retainer part
-rest of zipper
-Velcro
I've never had it flap on me and I'm going on 5 years

I put mine soft top on yesterday and noticed right away that something was wrong with the rear windows. Good thing for this site. I pulled mine off today and reset them. The top isn't quite as snug as the bottom, but they are much better now.
