My Jeep will be sitting for about 6 months. The battery is fairly new. Should I disconnect it, and leave It? Do I need to put it on a tender? Is it going to be ok in 6 months? Should I forget about a tender, and just jump it in 6 months?

If you can put it on a tender, that is the best option. If not you can just pull the neg cable and let it sit. I used to store a YJ for 4 months every winter and that is all I did; never had an issue starting when I took it out of storage. We store my wife’s convertible over winter and it sits on a tender. The tender gives you piece of mind.

Use a battery tender... Although the Tender brand is good, I have a Harbor Freight high frequency that I like better. I use it on my Frontier and my small RV that both sit for extended periods of time.

If you want to be 100% sure use a battery maintainer. These will trickle charge when needed and stop once it’s full. If you did this on top of disconnecting the batt it would practically ensure your battery will be in great health no matter the temp.

I would leave the battery connected with a battery tender on it. Or I am sure you can find someone to drive it while you are gone if you buy the gas.

Really, it doesn’t need to be driven to charge. Just let it run for about 15-20 mins. That’s what I do when I don’t go anywhere for a week or more. I fire it up and let it idle while I look everything over.
