I have these LED tailouts:

They hyper flash. I finally got around to ordering some resistors:

The passenger side didn't hyperflash after I installed the resistors. But the driver side did. So I pulled the passenger off to make sure I checked how I wired it, what wire I tapped, etc. Okay, got it. Now to make sure the driver side is done the same way. Redid the connections on the driver's side just to be sure.

And ... now they BOTH hyperflash. Yup. Just looking at the passenger side apparently made it decide it didn't want to slow flash any more but join its brother over on the driver's side and flash like mad.

This is driving me crazy. What do I do now? Why didn't the resistors fix it?! Please help if you can. Thanks!

Your ECU needs to be reprogrammed to accept LEDs. Apparently it’s not happy with the amount of, or lack there of, of draw even with the resistors in place.

You will want to find an OBD2 dongle. It plugs into the OBD2 connector under your driver side footwell. The dongle will pair to your phone using Bluetooth. Like this device: Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth OBD II Scanner Auto Diagnostic Scan Tool for iOS & Android, Bluetooth 4.0 Car Check Engine Light Code Reader Amazon.com: Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth OBD II Scanner Auto Diagnostic Scan Tool for iOS & Android, Bluetooth 4.0 Car Check Engine Light Code Reader : Automotive

Then you can install an app on your phone called "JSCAN". That will allow you to connect to your Jeep's ECM (car computer) and tell it you have LED taillights. The JSCAN app has a user friendly FAQ that should cover any questions.

However, if those resistors aren't bad out of the box, I would advise using crimp butt connectors over the supplied wire taps. They make a poor electrical connection from my experience. Make sure those wires connections are solid and you shouldn't need to reprogram anything.

The wire taps sure look good. I pulled them and redid them on the driver side (and now the passenger side is hyper flashing too). So ... do I reprogram or not? And why did the pass side work (for a while)? BTW, the hazards do NOT hyper flash.

How long are you letting them blink when you test after you change something? I had trouble with my front turn signals changing sides like that. It took mine about 10-15 blinks before they started to hyper blink (when i thought i fixed it) or stop hyper blinking (when the resistors were installed). If/when you get jscan or similar, you'll see a bunch of turn signal circuit high DTCs stored in there. They don't illuminate the check engine light but didn't want you to get scared if you saw them.

I installed those same tail lights on my 2017 JKU without issue, the work just fine. BTW, they have an internal resistor.

Driving around regularly in the Jeep. We're way past 10-15 blinks... They are committed to hyper flashing. I know what you mean tho -sometimes the first couple of blinks when you change one will be the nice slow blink. Next time you use your blinker and it says "Just kidding! I'm hyper flashing now!"

Talk to the seller and see if they can do something for you. I bought these ones back in Oct 2022, didn't have to do anything, zero issues, plug and play.

Have you tried contacting Audexen directly ?
Most of these things are made in China and i went with Xprite because at least they show 1 year warranty and more contact info compared to Audexen.

It's been 11 months now and zero issues with the tailights knocking on wood. :)

I checked Audexen and they show this email address,
E-Mail Address
2881280603@qq.com

If it's been more than 1 year you may be on your own but at least i would ask anyways.

For the price i'll prob ditch them and buy a new set from another vendor if i was in your shoes. Make sure the new ones have a warranty and the vendor list contact info and they seem legit. As you see Audexen is not listing warranty length whatsoever in their website, they just claim they have one but to contact them for info.. asides from that the email address is not associated with their domain, their listed phone number is all zeros, website doesn't have a certificate etc etc, to me that will indicate a cheese manufacturer with cheesy warranty.

Good Luck.

So ... what's the best recommendation?

1. Buy new tail lights. Northridge 4x4 has some for$160 with a built-in resistor. And I expect they'd take'em back if they didn't work.

2. Buy a programmer and see if I can fix it that way.

3. Stop letting hyper flash bother me and just be happy with what I've got.

Other ideas?
