Top speed?

What is the top speed you can go on a Wrangler 4 door? The speedometer goes up to only 100 mph, what would be the max reasonable speed to go at if without doing anything bad to the engine. Thanks,

I would guess that the chip in the motor will only allow you to go a certain speed. so i would guess it tops out at about 110. cars have chips these days. you can remove them, but i wouldnt. they are there for a reason

I believe the top speed is (electronically) based on what model you have, and that is strictly based on the speed limitation of the factory tires.

I've had mine up to 100mph no problem. I think all Rubi's top out at 99mph.

One of the "benefits" of the 3.6 is that is actually more of a high end car engine than a truck/Jeep engine, so higher RPM's are not an issue.

Our limits are more of the issues with a boxy Wrangler on high profile tires with weak brakes and such.

This is the same engine in the Charger and Challenger.

I don't own one yet (on order), but when I drove the 3.6 the thing I noticed immediately was that it liked the higher rpms better, that's where the added hp was evident. Down low, I'm not sure I noticed much difference in torque with it and my 3.8.

Now, if you want to increase your top end speed, just add some stickers, they are good for at least 5-10mph.

I never have been over 80 MPH on my JKU. I cruise more like 65-70 on the highway.
I have learned to slow down and enjoy the drive, LOL!

99 miles per hour (speed limited) which is the limit for stock tires. I've been there with the pentastar.

I had mine on a long straight stretch slight down hill and I was pulling right at 160...... then I realized I had the evic in the metric mode. These are bricks probably a good think they are limited to a ton. I generally cruise on the highway at 75-85mph and mine does great at those speeds.

100 mph on a 2015 Rubicon. For sure. I learned this on the test drive before I ordered it... it got to 100 with about 3/4 pedal and pushing it further did nothing. Obviously electronically controlled.

The salesman about shit his pants.... not quite, though.... He didn't actually shit his pants until I pulled off the road, threw it in 4L, locked the diffs, and climbed over a dumptruck load of freshly dumped fill dirt.....

It was all good in the end, however....... he went home with a fat commission check when I ordered a loaded Hard Rock..

I would never buy a vehicle the salesman or anyone else took a shit in. And as to the discussion at hand its limited to 99 I've had my two door to the limit. It could certainly go faster if it was allowed to.

I ran my jkur up to the limiter of 99mph.
after I installed my superchips trail dash set the limit high as it would go (145mph).I have only had it up to 105. but I wouldn`t recommend it hood was wanting to raise up and wind was pushing my rubi around..

I've topped out the speedometer on my JK Sport before, but to be honest at those speeds, it doesn't feel all that safe in a top-heavy Jeep. I usually cruise on the highway anywhere from 75-85 and with the 3.6 engine, the RPMs aren't that bad at those speeds. Actually pretty good gas mileage too... for a Jeep.

I have a 2013 4 door Sahara that is basically stock. So when I hit 100 mph, it was actually really stable. I was in Sunrider mode with the rear window flopped (but the rest of the windows rolled up). My sister in law commented on how it didn't really feel like we were doing 100 mph. She said she knew were we going fast, but not 100 mph fast. The longer wheelbase and slightly lower profile tires probably played a part in high speed stability. I also wonder if the stock Sahara side steps act like some type of ground effect kit as well?

I've only done it once, as I usually don't go past 73 mph (fuel cost). But the vehicle is rock solid at speed.

No idea, I'm good with 70-75mph, an iced tea and good music. These shoe boxes are not made for speed, so I'm not good with risking the lives of my family, friends and other families on the roadways!

If in that much of a hurry, I fly !

I had mine up to 75 on the way home from getting it lifted, thats how i found out my tires needed to be rebalanced hahahahhaha

Lol.troll waking up an ancient thread. Bla.

Im not trolling lmao, I was genuinely curious if other people had topped one out before. How about we make a new thread asking? I have a picture of the uconnect gps speed I'll need to find to post or tonight I can go to Mexico and do it. Idk if the car still has it, I did this in 2016 when the car only had like 20,000 miles on it, now its 100,000. I cleared the gps because of warranty I didn't want them seeing it and possibly heehawing on the warranty. The fastest I've gone in it since is 105.
